In 2019, it's Miss State in Knox.

SEC Future Schedule Rotations

Okay, An improved Tennessee team will beat Georgia State, Chattanooga, BYU, Ky., Vandy, Missouri, Mississippi State, South Carolina & Alabama- Birmingham . Definate losses to O'bama & Florida. 50/50 chance of beating Georgia. Every year, when the schedule is printed, I always chalk Alabama & Florida as guaranteed losses, regardless of the situation.
9 wins and we are in a good bowl game. 10 wins and we are in a New Years Day bowl game

10-2 is a very good possibility in 2019 and the 2020 schedule is tougher with a trip to Norman,Oklahoma.

Loser Culture? One season at 4-8 after two 9 win seasons? These kids don't know how to win crap is as old as you are absent minded. Last year was horrible to comprehend but to say there was a losing culture under Jones is FALSE. If you didn't like the man so be it, but don't throw LOSING CULTURE out there and try to justify your hatred for the man. I wasn't happy with the man either but UT needed someone other than Jones during his tenor because his conservatism cost his at least 2 wins a season. Factor that in and the man would have at least 2 SEC East championships but he didn't and we are where we are with a football coach that won't settle for anything less than Championships. Loser Culture? GET A CLUE......... Last season was what is was and a fluke but it is what it is so DEAL with it...... Don't know how to win..... Pffft..... put the bottle down... or stop smoking crack....(Do people still smoke crack or is it Meth) either way, open your mind and see facts instead of being simple minded.

Jones was 2-3 versus Vanderbilt. Any way you slice it, that’s a losing culture.

In the years, that I have watched Tennessee, I can recall only twice where the team laid down. Once against Wyoming because Fulmer had been fired and it wasn't likely we would go to a bowl. Second time was at Ky. on Thanksgiving weekend when Bray & team packed it up, so that Dooley could get fired. In that game, the only player that was 100% focused was Da' Rick. He wanted to beat some type of record and was playing for his individual needs and not for a win.
I think a loser culture is when you give up on your effort. Am I right? or is a loser culture considered something else completely???????????????

In Oklahoma!!!!!!! We owe those Son of a Bucks. They should not have beaten us in Knoxville. Josh Smith was having a whale of a game and bUTch allowed them to catch up and beat us. First half was a good game, but second half was not............

Speaking of not liking bUTch. I didn't have any heartache with him, but I did feel that he was in over his head by being an SEC coach. He did take ALOT of heat, but I would be willing to be under stress for the contract that he was getting. We had to hire him because none of the other candidates that we supposedly were interested in accepted. We rolled the dice on his hire and tried to look enthusiastic about it.
No Charlie Strong, No Butch Davis, No Will Muschamp, No Air Force coach, No Boise State coach, etc. etc.

I think we have talent on both sides of the ball, QB and O-Line included. Also, I think (or hope) that we have solid game planning and player development coach. If these assumptions are correct, it will be apparent with WVU, with the first win. I expect a 7-5 season, but voted for 8-4. It is time that the ball bounces towards UT. We win the games that we should win and are competitive in every game, winning a couple that we shouldn't.

Yes losing to Vanderbilt stank but his overall records except for his last season doesn't constitute into a losing culture. Overall depicts win losses not a series. Look I'm not sticking up for the man by any means but don't play this that UT never had any success under him. Debunk him all you want but the man won here....... Losing culture... I don't buy it..... 3-0 bowl record? Maybe he should have coached all games as bowl games.... I have no clue but a losing culture at UT isn't the case until 2017 plain and simple.... end of argument.

Then why is he an intern at Bama as we speak, and not the HC at the University of Tennessee if there is no losing culture on our roster?

2016 was the year! Loss to A & M, Vandy & USC killed us. Had bUTch not lost those games and we go to the SECCG, we would have lost to Bama by 118 points but we would have been in the Sugar Bowl and all would have been forgiven.
Folks would see him as someone who could build a roster and win some in the SEC but that he needed better assistant coaches. That would have bought him several more seasons at U.T.
That slide of losses in 2016, was the beginning of the end. Losing in 2017 by bad coaching was the end.

If we are still talking Butch Football. His game plan was the problem. Tens could scheme against our ten and get exactly hat they expected most of the time. By year 4 everyone knew what we were about to do and did a good job stopping us. Look at the scoring patterns of the games. We would get down early against quality opponents and have to change what we were doing to fight our way back.

Butch is gone and so is his plan.

Who knows what will happen. I think we have talent to beat every team in our schedule. Injuries and QB play will be the most important factors this year like most every year.

I’m just glad I have no idea what our 1st offensive play will look like and neither does WV.

The probability of 9 wins is there, UGA, Bama and Auburn are the 3 losses, the other 9 can happen. The only thing, this team does not resemble last year's, so, 7 to 9 can happen.

Go Vols!

I went with 8-4. Win the first 4, lose 4 in a row and then win out in the final 4 games. I'm thinking if we do lose to West Virginia then we get the win back against the 'Cocks. Probably end up playing another average B1G Ten in UTs bowl game and do what they usually do against those teams and thump 'em. End up 9-4 and then get Wright and Crouch to join the recruiting class. Which means a top 10 recruiting class and UT is on their way back to beng an elite SEC team

If UT only wins 4 games then Pruitt should be fired.

Only excuse is if we have a nation leading 58 starts lost AGAIN.

The insanely injured team was 3 last second plays away from beating KY, UF, and USC giving it 7 wins.

Will come down to September, IMO. If we can go 3-2 or better in September, then I think we go 7-5 or better. If our only wins are against ETSU and UTEP, we end up 5-7 IMO. The optimist in me wants to predict 6-6 or better, but the more I think about it I'm not sure we make a bowl. Too many question marks and not enough depth in the trenches. The schedule does us no favors either, save for getting UF at home coming off two warm up games.

How would losing to West Virginia, positivley affect the team's ability to beat South Carolina?
