We have talent. Last year was not a bad team. It was a badly coached team. No player development, no safety back, shotgun on the 1-yard line, etc. players could not overcome the coaching.

Now, we are not a top-tier talent team when you get deep in the roster, but we had a huge addition-by-subtraction with the coaching change, IMO. If we developed that talent in the sling and continue to improve in the fall, AND have good in-game coaching, we should be fine. 7-8 wins. But just to get to a bowl game should be a realistic goal.

If we play up to our talent level. If the coaches are as good as we hope they are. If the ref's don't cost us any games. If we make all of our field goals. If we don't have any real injuries. If we can get good play from our q.b.'s. If we cause turn overs. If every player does their job. If we find a leader on the team that demands the team gives their all.
This is a 5 - 7 season. Next season, will be a totally different story though. By then, the Juniors, Sophomore & Freshmen will return with a full year in the new system. Also with a full two off seasons in the S & C program. Also, our recruiting results will be much better next signing period. Pruitt was on the held for less than a month before signing period. Give him a full year on the job.
A full season with this coaching staff will give Pruitt a good assessment of what coaches he needs to dismiss and which ones he needs to retain. Off season changes in the coaching staff.
In 2019, I see a minimum of 9 wins and possibly 10. That depends on who our SEC West opponent is in 2019.
2019 will be a boom year. Losses to Florida, Bama and possibly to UGA will be our only losses. Won't make it to SECCG because of losses to Florida, but will get in to a good bowl game in New Years Day and will beat our BIG 10 opponent in front of the whole country.

I'm thinking 7.

6 games look winnable, hoping we get all of them and steal 1 along the way.

In 2019, it's Miss State in Knox.

I really feel 6 should be the floor. We don’t lack talent (depth however). We’ll go as far as the QB takes us.
That's what I think too. We have some talent on the roster, it just needs to be developed.

I see 3 wins on the schedule in ETSU, UTEP and Charlotte

I see 3 losses in UGA, Alabama and Auburn

I see 6 tossups in WVU, Florida, SC, Kentucky, Missouri, and Vandy.

He should at minimum go 3-3 in those games and I'm thinking 4-2.

...Look at our history! We have more upset losses than we have upset wins in the schools history.
Lost to an inferior Florida team at least 12 times. Lost to Wyoming. Lost to an inferior O'Bama team about 10 times. Lost to Ky. twice, since I have been an avid fan. Lost to Vandy about 5 times in the past 10 years. Lost to a couple of inferior Missouri teams. Lost to an inferior Penn State team 3 or 4 times.

Beat U of Miami in Sugar Bowl. Come from behind win against LSU with Rick Clausen as Q.B. Beat UGA a couple of times when we were the underdog. Beat Ohio State with Eddie George, Terry Glenn etc. etc.

And, how exactly does that have any effect at all on future outcomes?

We win WVU, ETSU, UTEP, UF, USCjr, Charlotte, UK, Vandy. All of these games should be winnable with any improvement. I'd love to see an upset, most likely Mizzou, but Bama at our house would be sweet! Yeah I'm being optimistic but I think 8 is possible. GO VOLS!

Yikes, LWS. I mean, I said 6-6, so I'm not exactly predicting much more than you, but surely we can muster more than 4 wins. Last year was a complete joke of a season in every way imaginable. I can't take another one of those.

I think like most and say 7-8 wins. With the new scheme it could go either way, I just optimistically want to believe it will be positive. I know one thing, we wont get trounced if we lose, not like last year.

Tennessee goes bowling

With the new attitude around the program I think Pruitt gets a big win this season (Fl, SC) we finish 2-3 in the east.

Wow people are really confident. 35% at 7 wins and 20% at 8. The orange-tinted glasses are coming out.

No offense, but you’re coming up way short on your Vol history of upsets here. Alabama, Auburn, Notre Dame, UCLA.....and there are many more.

I am old and may have forgotten some. I didn't research the losses and upsets, I just did it from memory. Also, I started watching U.T. football in 1979. As soon as I graduated from high school in 1982, I joined the Marines and was overseas for 5 years, then I was stationed on the West coast and they don't show U.T. games there. However; I do recall one game televised when we tied Colorado.
I then missed all of the 2004 & 2005 season because I was in Iraq. I also missed the 2010 season because I was in Afghanistan.
If I research, I am sure I can come up with more upset losses too. Hey, didn't we lose to Rutgers or Army when Majors was the coach? I think Reggie White was on that team. Not sure.

Please let it be Florida and the start of Pruitt's domination of that garbage team and their obnoxious fan base

If Pruitt can get to where he is routinely beating Florida, SCAR, Kentucky, Vandy, and Missouri he will be the coach at Tennessee for a long time. Florida is down and it may be a harder climb back as there are now so many teams in the Sunshine State competing for the local talent. Plus barring a few seasons none of the others have ever been anything but cannon fodder for the elite teams in their leagues. So CJP doesn't have to be the second coming of the General to get back to winning 9 games a year.

We don’t know how to win yet, too soft. It will take Pruitt a couple of years to change the loser culture......5 or 6 wins max.

Loser Culture? One season at 4-8 after two 9 win seasons? These kids don't know how to win crap is as old as you are absent minded. Last year was horrible to comprehend but to say there was a losing culture under Jones is FALSE. If you didn't like the man so be it, but don't throw LOSING CULTURE out there and try to justify your hatred for the man. I wasn't happy with the man either but UT needed someone other than Jones during his tenor because his conservatism cost his at least 2 wins a season. Factor that in and the man would have at least 2 SEC East championships but he didn't and we are where we are with a football coach that won't settle for anything less than Championships. Loser Culture? GET A CLUE......... Last season was what is was and a fluke but it is what it is so DEAL with it...... Don't know how to win..... Pffft..... put the bottle down... or stop smoking crack....(Do people still smoke crack or is it Meth) either way, open your mind and see facts instead of being simple minded.
