How many will not renew season tickets?

You assume that me deciding to no longer buy season tickets means that I am gone. That is a big assumption. I have made a financial decision to not pay the donations, tickets, hotels (I do not live close enough to drive there and back in one day) until I feel the product on the field matches the quality and excitement worth the cost.

Now, me watching the game on my 80” QLED TV in 4K with an open bar and electric theater seats in my theater with an island full of appetizers just feels like a better choice at this time.

So, I am not “gone”. I am adjusting my viewing choice. Once you are born into fandom, it is not something that you “leave”.

I’ve always enjoyed being at the games more than watching on TV. Same goes for concerts. The best system doesn’t hold a candle to AC/DC in concert. Due to circumstances it will have to do.

The other guy is the fan police.

Trying to tell other fans how to behave. I just tell how I behave.

Mine is more of a testimony.

I do stand by the advice of going to every game you can, you never know when circumstances change and then you couldn’t go even if you wanted to because we started winning.
Lol. I am not telling anyone what to do. I am saying how I made the decision not to renew my season tickets.

When did I tell fans they should not renew their season tickets? I simply said the quality has to be worth it for me, and it is not. I said I’d rather take a long cruise vs. renewing my season tickets.

You are pointing at me saying “so, will you be back when they are good again”. You are agreeing with me that the product is horrible. You are just saying you will continue to go to the game and I am saying I will not.

The only thing I said to you about you was about the Yugo. And I did not call you dumb for wanting to spend money on the Yugo.

Step off your high horse and realize that other people can have a different opinion than yours. And that they can also post their opinion that is opposite of your on a fan message board.

Perfect example. You are correct. I would spend my money to see AC/DC live in concert. High quality product, awesome experience and well worth the price. Saw GNR at Nissan Stadium and Motley Crue farewell tour live and well worth the price. We are completely aligned there.

All I am saying is at this point, the football program is not a high quality, enjoyable experience that is worth the price of the ticket. So I am choosing not to renew and pay the price when I can (in my opinion) have a better experience in my theater. And that is my thought on how I made my decision to not renew my season tickets.

It sounds like you will start back going to the games when we start winning again.

I’ll hold my judgement of you until you say one way or the other.

I speak from experience that sometimes things change and while you choose for now to stop going, later on you may not get the choice to go and then you would wish you would have gone when you had the chance. Missed opportunities can bug on a person.

I wonder how many Vol fans chose not to go to the Auburn and Ky games and now wish they had.

All I’m saying is the the win over Auburn was a high quality game and I wish I could have been there, but circumstances didn’t allow me to attend. Just my luck I was able to go to the Fl game. It it hadn’t been with my son it would have been a total bust.

I will again purchase my season tickets. I have outstanding seats, only downside, they are on the visiting side. I'm hopeful I can trade and get directly across the field behind our team. I think what you see is what you get till you rid the team of many Butch era players; only recruiting will get that done. Hopefully some of the folks who haven't bought in will be able to sit on the bench. For me, I would hope if this is going on, they choose to leave during the off season. I believe Pruitt gets things done, although I'm not sure how long that takes. Next year, I don't expect to be much better, maybe a 6 win or at best, a 7 win season. Let's hope for a good recruiting class, God knows we need it.

How many tickets do you buy?

Are you ill? Seriously, you can afford but no longer can? Don’t have a ride or what? Sounds deeper issue than winning?

I’ll be the first to admit that when the team gets better, I’ll consider renewing mine. Until then, I’m done.

This misery has gone on too long. I live too far away to travel in to Knoxville to watch us get our asses handed to us every game. Tennessee football is boring these days.

I swear they had two seats in S that only had someone who actually had tickets in them for Florida. You should ask your rep to actually look for them than just checking online.
I believe that. We had 6 seats that joined us that never had a backside in them all season.

1. Why are UT tickets so expensive? They are twice as much as some other SEC schools. Easily in the top 3 most expensive in the league.

2. Home scheduling
OOC-Ga State, BYU, UTC, and UAB
BYU-would be nice to see but none of the 4 make you say I’ve got to get tickets to see that team play, but easily 4 WINS
SEC-not a bad slate
Ga, MSU, SC, and Vandy-Could see 3 of 4 wins there

Winning 7 of 8 home games next year should help attendance and morale. Like what has been already said, it’s supposed to be fun. It’s a field trip of sorts for most, pride on the line, and you want to enjoy a Positive atmosphere with your family.

If you think Pruitt IS the guy, now is the time to buy, buy low, sell high. You could get great seats and when TN is winning on a national stage again, investment would be worth it, and you can scalp your tickets for double the cost to those who gave up.

5yr old twins and and a 1 year old. Circumstances change for people that make it where once they could but now, let’s say it’s much more expensive and more difficult for me. Travel time doesn’t help being 5-6 hrs from Knoxville.

Glad it’s that. I was worried.

Nope. I'm cancelling mine. I may buy some single game tickets, but I'm not going to continue paying thousands of dollars for a pathetic product
Honestly cheaper that way. Pick the games you want. That goes for every fanbase that has to donate for the rights to tickets especially now that the “donation” isn’t tax exempt. Otherwise, bigger TVs are making the couch more appealing.

Didn’t mean to sound so grim about it. My reasons are a blessing. For others, not so much.

That could be why when fans talk about walking away until better days I have a hard time not giving the advice about going when you can.

I will probably renew but the traffic and replay crap this year were horrible. They charge us and cover Jumbotron with ads. The experience at Auburn was so much better all around with worse viewing seats.

The reason I renew is because of a soon to be 13 year old boy who loves it. When asked during Vandy game if we should support some other team than these guys laying down, yes it was a test for him, he said but we are Tennessee Volunteers. We will always be Vols and that will never change. I don’t know how many years I may have on this earth. I am 52 and he’s my last at home. I have lost so many friends in their 50’s the last few years.

I do this for my time with him that just us guys get to do together. We eat steaks and drink milk and cokes and do what we want. Went to visit at Bama and Auburn and had a great guys only weekend. Love that boy and our time together. So yes, I will renew.

You sound like an old softie.

I’ve been going to every home game for about the last 12 years, and have been going to a few games a year with family since 1994. I also go to a few away games each year depending on distance and interest (all of them in 2016).

I ran a relatives tailgate since around 2007, but quit after 2016 when I moved away from Knoxville. I’ve sat through just about every low I never thought was possible.

Now, I only go to about 3 games a year. I always go to the Alabama game because if we ever get lucky, even if it’s 20 years from now, I will be there. I pick a few home games and that’s it.

I no longer buy new UT gear, because it feels like a waste of money, because I don’t want to wear it after how embarrassed I am at the product on the field.

I’ve been called a fair weather fan because I said I will go back to all the games once the product improves. Maybe so, but I have put in thousands and thousands of dollars, and tons of hours of my life to watch bad football, so I won’t be supporting fully again until the university cares as much about winning as I do.

The university will never care as much as you. I bet Coach Fulmer cares the same as you do. I expect him to do what can be done to force us to be better. We’ll see how it turns out.

I try to go to the Fl and Bama games if possible.

It’s a shame the ones that call out the fans that say they will wait till we are winning again before they watch or will go to games are the bad guys.

When will the fans that turn their back on the Vols when they are needed the most be considered the bad guys?
Maybe I missed it in this thread. But this bullying you are referring to, no one is doing that.

A pre-emptive strike maybe, a false flag of sorts so you can call out the ones making a personal decision on what they consider a smart economic play based on the diminishing returns and erosion of a once satisfactory product.

This is just me, but, I live in Florida, and when I wear any UT gear I’m proud to wear it because I’m a UT alumnus. Has nothing to with any sports. I wouldn’t trade my diploma with anybody. Just me.
