How many times have we been “handed” a win?

Just like my previous answer, we've never had a win handed to us. Every win was earned through sheer grit, determination, athleticism, and superior tactics. Conversely, every loss was a combination of bad luck, climate change, poor officiating, and divine intervention by jealous gods on Mt Olympus.

Handed a win by an officiating call or mistake? I can’t recall a time since I’ve been watching Tennessee football (Peyton’s freshman year) that such a thing has happened. I can probably count on two hands how often the refs have hosed us though.

In 2007 we had to beat Vandy at home to stay on path to amazingly win the East (after monster lopsided losses to Cal, FL, Bama). Vandy was dominating us and up 24-9 halfway through the 4th quarter. And we were punting around midfield. A win was a lock for Vandy. We couldn't stop them all day. Well, they roughed our punter. Total gift. We then scored a TD, held Vandy on a 3 and out, scored another TD but missed the 2 pointer, held Vandy on 3 and out again, then drove for the game winning field goal. Won 25-24. I was there and I could hardly believe it. I think those were the only two three and outs by Vandy all game.

05 LSU. 1st game in Death Valley after hurricane Katrina and that LSU team and home crowd were JACKED for that game! You will never find another LSU home crowd louder and more hostile than they were that night! LSU took an early 21-0 lead on us, and it looked like they were going to steamroll us, but we came back and won in overtime 30-27. In an otherwise disappointing season, it was one of Fulmer's most impressive wins in his career.

To this day, I cannot figure out how we pulled that win off. My only guess is LSU was so amped up in the 1st half, they were completely drained emotionally, mentally, and physically in the second half and we just methodically chipped away little by little. Its a shame the season as a whole was a disappointment because that road win was incredible.

That wasn't handed to us. We scored 35 unanswered points until they scored with around 4min left in the 4th qtr to cut the defecit to 10 points, then we kneeled out the clock for a comfortable 38-28 win.

That was an ass whooping.
I agree we were dominant, but any time any team surrenders a 21 point lead, I feel like they should have won that game and would qualify it as giving away the game.
