How many redshirt freshmen?

I was looking at the official roster today, trying to determine how many of our scholarship players redshirted last season.

The names I came up with: Jarrett Guarantano, Ja'Quain Blakely, Ryan Johnson and Devante Brooks.

Am I missing anyone?

Really thought there would be more than that. I think Brooks desperately needed the redshirt. He should be an outstanding player going forward.

We burned Tatum's redshirt vs Bama I believe. we could have really used his athleticism now that he is physically more mature for another 4 years.

I knew there were more guys that I had in my mind. All those guys are listed as sophomores on the utsports roster, even though none of them played last year as far as I know. Maybe the roster isn't accurately updated yet. :dunno:

I think that would be a good idea since we don't have to play him for depth.

Tackles- Richmond,Hall,Kendrick,Niehaus,T.Smith,D.Brooks

Interior - Coleman,Robertson,Boulware,Jones,Johnson

Redshirt- Locklear,Tatum,Calbert


Plus some guys can line up in different areas in a pinch.

if his source is the Tennessee roster he doesn't have a very good source. that roster is rarely 100% accurate.

Yea I saw this as well just wasn't sure which was correct. Both seem or seemed legit. Shoot I have no problem with Niehaus being redshirted, I hope he added some weight to that 6'6 frame.

Tennessee is applying for a medical redshirt for Alexis Johnson, but haven't heard back according to Rucker. They likes his chances.
