That's right...

Lol. I wish it worked that way. So you could have like 75 total stars that would be 15 five stars or 18 four stars or 25 three stars or some combination of each. Would make things interesting to say the least.

We don't like 4 and 5 star players around here...3 stars and 2 stars are where its at....

26 3 stars and one 2 star....27 total..lol

Vandy has like 16 or 19 and ranked top 15. Florida has 10 3*. I know you just try to get attention and wont interfere with that, some just dont get enough at home and need to come get it on here, so enjoy my friend. But based on our 3.24 star average, with a full 27 that gets us top 15...Just sayn..

And 7th in the SEC...You are still missing the point that elite schools get some 3 star players but they get plenty of 4 stars and a some 5 stars...Tennessee will have to settle for being the new Vandy.

We aren't going to have 27 spots in the 85 unless a few more current players disappear.

Near the end if Fulmer's career we would be out coached in games and win or hang in them due to superior athletes...sort of the way IMO Les Miles does now.

A strong coaching staff with solid bought in athletes in a strong system can be extremely competitive with superior athletic teams. Stanford, Texas A&M, Vandy, Louisville, Boise St.....just to name a few. Coaches' player evaluations for their playing style is more important than what Rivals, 247, ESPN or any other recruiting ranking service's opinion.

I believe this to be true:
1. All schools must limit their total football roster to 85 per NCAA.
2. In the SEC, schools are limited to 25 players that can be enrolled each year, but they cannot go over the 85 limit.
3. Each school is allowed up to 3 back counts from the year before if they did not enroll 25 players from the year before. They number of back counts allowed depends on the number enrolled below 25.
4. The SEC gave Missouri and Texas A & M a one year exception on the 25 limit. They still are limited by the 85 total rule.

Please correct me if I am wrong on any point. Thanks!

The limit of 3 backcounts doesn’t go into effect until next year. You can count backcount as many as you want to right now, and that explains how Georgia can get ~30. Southern California can only sign 15 this year, but they are backcounting EEs to get up to 18. Next year (13-14) non-SEC FBS schools will be limited to 28 and up to three backcounts and SEC schools will be limited to 25 with the 3 backcounts. This is all from things that are either proposed or already passed. I think they are going to ratify this at the coach’s meetings this month.

this makes no sense...with the 30 scholarships lost due to NCAA penalties and the fact that USC appealed and ignored sanctions in 2011 (signed 30).

In 2012 they signed 16.

Not sure how they can sign 18 in 2013, uness the have some attrition that keeps their roster at 75 scholarships.

The penalties include the loss of 30 football scholarships over three years and vacating 14 victories in which Bush played from December 2004 through the 2005 season.

USC punished with two-year football postseason ban - ESPN Los Angeles

A&M might have an exemption to sign 34 players which I don't agree with, but how can georgia sign 30 when the sec limit is 25? They can't back count that many. They'll have to cut some lose before NSD.

The attrition thing. Kiffin told some JR and SR backups to hit the bricks.

You're probably right.

USC could be down for a few years if they are counting on true freshmen to come in and make an immediate impact - we know what that is like - not good.

SEC exemption

Which is absolute BS!!!!!!!
They should NOT be given a leg up in a conference they would have spent a week under Mike Slives desk to join. Yeah, allow the trash in, and give them an unfair recruiting advantage. Makes sense. TexasJR, and Mizzou should have had to play by the same rules, AND played all their SEC games on the road. Jmo.

For the backcounts. They signed 19 in 2012 so they can backcount up to 6 EEs. 25+6=31. It just sucks because it’s Georgia getting to do it.

The new rules are going in to stop that sort of thing--which is stupid, if you ask me. Now it’ll take forever to get a bad team good. And if you thought teams were Sabanizing before, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet. Everybody’s gonna sign close to 25/28 and just cut people.

Since we sucked this year, my entire college football sanity rested on USC losing. I hope that continues.
