Used to quite frequently before I moved for a better job in Mobile. Now I'm 8 hours away and it's not really feasible for me to attend. Doesn't make me less of a fan.

PS hopefully Knoxville leadership will pull their heads out of their behinds one day and put forth more effort to attract better jobs to the area.

I live 6 hours away and go to 2-3 basketball games at TBA a year (none this year, actually), and I go to EVERY home football game, as well as the USC game in Columbia every other year. All in all, I easily spend $6-$7,000 on the Vols each year.

And lots and lots of heartache.

Pretty much exactly the same here. Except I'm 6 hours away in a different direction and I go to road games within a 3 hour radius of me, which is Vandy, Bammer, MState & Ole Miss.

I take my son and occasionally my daughter will go to all the weekend games.I get up at 1:30am to drive a truck so the weeknight games are out but attend all weekend games.

Never attended a Vols Basketball game, however, I watch them on TV when they are on and I go to bars when they are not on my local programming.

On another note, there are plenty of fans who support the Vols financially in other ways than games. Buying Vols apparel is one way in which many do it, and the product on the court and field make a huge difference in sales.

Live in southern Ohio. We attend 1/2 dozen hoops games/year, 3 or 4 football games/year.

Hoops were def more exciting when Bruce coached. Love up tempo controlled chaos style. As for football, Butch gets it!

I have family that go to every home game and almost every football game both home and away and have been since the mid 1950's...I personally try to make it to a couple of football games a year if possible however haven't been to a UT basketball game in about 3 years...Only one I can hit is the UF game in Gainesville now and then....Not gonna fly to k-town or any other place for a basketball game unless its in the NCAA tournament.

Went to almost every game as a student, even when Buzz was coaching. Money and time gets saved for football season now though that I live 6 hours away. If I ever live in east TN again I will get bball season tickets in addition to my football ones though.

Who cares if you go to games or not. That doesn't make you less of a fan. So dumb when people say things like that.

People that go to games and have season tickets actually have a vested interest in the program vs. Fans that do not spend their money and stay home and watch the games on TV and are just " emotionally" invested. Not saying one is more of a fan than the other, however, I spend thousands of dollars a year between donation, football and basketball season tix and get pretty ticked off when the product on the field or court is substandard.

As do the people that don't go to games. I go to plenty but I know a lot of people who can't afford to go to games or have demanding work schedules. My point is the kind of people that pull that card are the ones expecting a pat on the back for spending money for tickets when others would likely spend just as much if they could. Its silly

Seriously? Money drives everything and the fans that buy the tickets, donate the money, attend the games and buy popcorn and cokes are the ones that make or break an athletics dept. Doesn't matter what "others would spend" if they could. I could do a lot of other things with my hard earned money as well if I chose to.

Been to every first round tourney game in recent memory and 4-6 regular season games a year.

It means exactly jack sh-t in the grand scheme of things though so your thread is pretty much pointless.

Anybody that cheers for the Vols should be considered a fan.

My football season tickets first arrived in our family in 1933. I have had them for the last 47 years.

I agree with the poster. While ALL Vol fans are needed and appreciated---and we should all be EQUAL in each others eyes, The UT Athletic Department can't afford to view all fans equally.

Big-time college sports is a business and we, as fans, are potential customers. If you love the Vols but don't contribute to the AD's bottom line, it doesn't mean you are less of a fan to the Vol Nation; but, your input, thoughts and opinions mean relatively little to the Athletic Department. They'll profess that what you think does...but let's face it, my opinions on UT sports don't move the meter with Dave Hart like the Haslam's would.

The point I am attempting to make is: that in the eyes of the Athletic Dept. there is a hierarchy of fans based on your participation as a money-paying customer. The AD demonstrates this with the Tennessee Fund. The Tennessee Fund (formerly VASF) is all about RANKINGS. There are approximately 11,500 contributors and each one is ranked based on (primarily)the number of years of giving and how much is given annually.
