How many of our OC Candidates have written a book?

It is when you have folks here that every time a candidate is talked about, there's the inevitable question.

What type of offense does he run?

With Gus you know what he's going to run..

It would be even better if DC's couldn't read.

Problem is, he insists on running it even when he has a quarterback with no college experience and a Heisman Trophy candidate running back with a strong OL in front of him.

Even Barry Switzer, High Priest of the Wishbone Altar, switched to the I-formation for a couple of seasons when he only had one top-notch running back. A coach has to be able to adjust to the talent at hand, and I haven't seen that Malzahn is willing to do that. If he'd ridden McFadden in '06 and let Mustain learn the ropes, I think he, Nutt and Mustain would all be in better situations today.

He didn't run his offense at Arkansas, except for one series against USC (and they scored using it)
That's why he left, Nutt wouldn't let him run it

and He did develop the 'Wild Hog" formation that Mcfadden ran out of that propeled him into Heismann consideration

Letting Mustain and Casey Dick run a wide open offense with the personnel Arky had would have been a colossal mistake.

McFadden would have been a Heisman candidate running out of the Notre Dame Box. All he needed was the football 25 times a game.

Mustain was in no way ready to run a hurry-up, no-huddle offense like Malzahn preaches. He likes to talk about how they were 8-0 with him as a starter, but they were winning in spite of him, not because of him. One of the reasons Arkansas came up with the "Wild Hog" is that all their quarterbacks stunk.

Because it couldnt have been to get the ball in the play-maker's hands more often and out of different sets to throw the defense off.

McFadden was a Heisman candidate.

You missed my point. Someone said he was propelled into Heisman consideration by the "Wild Hog". I responded that he would have been a Heisman candidate in any formation they ran, because he was that good.

Better look at the Alabama game Mustain won that one, with a throw to another Freshman and how many did they win after he got the hook against SC.

and Mcfadden was runner up for the Heisman two years in a row
