how many losses...

I'm not going to predict and undefeated season or anything crazy like that, but if we don't go at least 7-5 during the regular season, I will be shocked. I think 8-4 is very possible as well.

I'm going to say we'll be 8-4 heading into the bowl game. Hopefully somebody will step up at the quarterback position.

Same here. I just hope that the four (probable) losses are not blowouts.

I'll take 7-5 and be thrilled with anything more. That's assuming we were competitive and tough in the 5 losses and avoid the stink bomb performances we've experienced the past couple of years.

Expect the worst, and hope for the best.

0-12.

Kidding. The optimistic side of me says 10-2. (Losses being to Florida and Bama) The pessimistic side tells me 7-5 (Florida, Bama, Ole Miss, Georgia, South Carolina)

I think that sums up my sentiment. But I think considering GA player loses I think we can win it.

SC is in a wierd situation with the QB's TN shouldn't lose and shouldn't have lost last year.

Ole Miss is my hardest sell as a win other than FL and AL.

I will be very disappointed in the new staff if we don't do at least 10-2. Last year's team had the talent to do it, but lacked proper coaching on the O side of the ball. The talent is still there, and with good coaching and an easier schedule, we should be able to hit the mark. We should go at least 1-2 vs FL, AL, and Ms; and no one else should beat us. (wild-card is Auburn. Don't know what their new staff will get out of them)

hadn't seen this posted anywhere yet..
Scout.com: ASK CFN (Part 2) - How Many Losses For ...
at least some people are giving us a little bit of credit, granted, i never take collegefootballnews.com very seriously.

ask me in late August. need to see how this roster shakes out. plenty more changes going to take place. players leaving, players changing positions and some players not getting to campus. Still a lot to happen before Western game.... could be anywhere from 3-4 losses to 7-8 losses..

one bad thing to going 10-2.. BCS bowl is almost guaranteed, therefore sky high ticket prices.(which i'll gladly mortgage the house for!!)

Who is going to be your opponent in the SECCG? Who would you prefer?

Hopefully, I will not have a reason to ask you this question in a few years.

Haven't given it a ton of thought. I suppose 'bama is a real possibility, especially because their main competition, likely to be LSU, does play us during the regular season whereas Alabama does not. I confess I don't now much about Ole Miss this year.

I'm not trying to start any crap, just going to shoot you guys straight. Anytime you have a change in the coaching staff, especially the whole crew, there are going to be some growing pains. Adjusting to new schemes offensively and defensively, no matter how talented the players are, there is a learning process that they all must go through. Coordinators have to teach there assistants to how they want the position taught and so forth. Not looking at the schedule, 7-8 wins would be good for a completely new staff.

We seriously have no chance of beating those guys this season.

Their team is getting better, because they got a few guys in this class who will probably play early. Our team basically stayed the same, because we didn't really bolster our offense at all. Seeing as how they have put 70 points on us the last 2 games - as compared to our 26 points against them - I don't see how anyone can reasonably assume the 2009 game will be much closer. Anyone who claims we have a legit shot at them is guilty of wishful thinking.

I think Marsalis Teague, James Green, Nyshier Oliver and Nuke Richardson among others (Brown and Oku) will have something to say about that. This in addition to the team we are fielding as Juniors ranked 1, 2 or 3 (depending on the poll) in the nation as a class in 2007.

It's not the 07's class fault that CPF fell asleep at the wheel and crashed and burned!

I personally am hoping for ten wins, but realistically see eight. Auburn is in the same position as Tennessee on QB and Ga lost a lot when they lost Moreno and Stafford. I think the biggest tossup games are to Alabama and Ole Miss. I dont see us having a complete disaster as in Wyoming last year. Man, i still have military buddies from Wyoming giving me crap about that one. Florida is a loss as it is too early in the season for our guys to adjust to everything the new staff brings in. 9 and 3 in the regular season should gain us a lot of momentum and maybe convince Eric Berry to come back for his senior season

What you said is true.

It's good to have some level headed posters from other schools here and not just trolls.

I think 8 is about right Joe, but could be higher or a bit lower.

Good points:

WKU- win
UCLA- win
Fla- on Coach K
Ohio-win
AU- 70/30 win
GA 40/60 win
BAMA 20/80 win
SC 50/50
Memphis win
Ole Miss 40/60 win
Vandy win
Kentucy win

I think that 8 wins is about all the we could expect, but we will hope, cheer and be happy about more.

I would be a happy man if we go 8-4. That said i would still be happy at 7-5. Shoot, i just want a bowl game this year.
QB situation and D-line situation scares me however. Same thing as last year.

With this new staff in place, its all in how the players respond to the coaching.
I love the energy thus far.

hard to make a projection at this point because we haven't felt all the attrition yet. I would have to say over that number though because I just don't see enough quality depth at some critical positions (OL, DL and LB). by the time we have more attrition, those positions will have even less than current look.

I'm with this guy.

The SC QB was a nightmare in the Outback Bowl,,,, I think he got benched. Made Spurrier wish for Crompton.
I say we beat Auburn which could not score last year and the "Little Sc that tries". We lose to the expected Bama and Florida, UGA and Ole Miss are the toss ups.

When you look at all the variables:
1. Kiffen knows nothing but losing as a head coach
2. Players know nothing but looking up at the rear ends of the teams in the SEC ahead of them
3. Losing to UF big time in the Swamp and having all of the dreams they have closed the gap between UT and UF shattered by a Tebow stiff arm.

You add up the variables you have a four loss team. Not bad, a big improvement.

i don't see any reason to automatically count South Carolina as a loss.

I agree with you man, no way we can count SC as an auto loss. In fact I say there is no way we can count any of our games as an auto loss. We have a chance to win them all, that is why we play the game.
