How many losses are unacceptable his 1st year?

We'll have to see what the schedule looks like when they announce it later. 6 losses with a new HC in the SEC, could be something to wish for.

Must be given some break because of what he is walking into with the defections, that is some break but not a total break for the entire season. At least 6 wins needed.

If Heupel comes in here and loses 6 or more then the fanbase will be in full revolt. Time will tell.

It depends on what is left of the roster to me. You can blame him for the myriad transfers and imploding recruiting class.

This is the perfect (bad) storm for Ian incoming coach where players have no transfer limitations and the program is looking at NCAA sanctions.

7 or 8 losses was likely no matter who we hired. A third of our roster has bolted for the portal, NCAA sanctions on the way. Saban couldn't go 7-5 here next year, this roster is in far worse shape than what he took over at Alabama. Next year is going to be brutal, keep your cup on.

Sshhh don’t bring rational thought into this

I have zero confidence Tennessee wins more than 4 or 5 games this year. IF they do CJH might be a miracle worker.

Look at it this way...we now have an excuse for losing to the likes of UK and any team on the schedule not named Vandy. By the time this is over, we'll likely have a couple more losses to the commodores.

If he wins 4 games next year, he's on track. If he wins more than that, he's ahead of the game. He's implementing a completely new system, he'll have fewer scholarships than normal and he'll be using players he didn't recruit. If we can score points in bunches, as his offense tends to do, we may surprise some teams, but I wouldn't expect that in year 1.

If he shows up with a competitive team with everything that has went down, I will be surprised. I wouldn't have walked into that mess without a substantial buyout, nor would have most high level coaches. If he can pull the nose up, slow and eventually stop the bleeding, then we can worry about wins and losses.

And who actually thinks we are eligible for a bowl game next season anyways?
