If Butch is the coach you think he is, how can you say that "this is just not possible"?
I'm not hating here, I just disagree and telling you why before you ask.
He's a naturally good runner, athletic but you are right. SEC defenses will put him to a stearn test and you know how unfortunate UT is with injuries. Will AK return for a senior season? If not I would consider us both thin and inexperienced at RB. Talk about time for player development. Cam Akers would be a huge land at this point. Most Hurd bashers who are posting don't have the complete story nor are they taking certain things into consideration and two are the coach and the system he's attempting to run. Oh we are free, as fans, to bash CBJ and this pitiful offense but when a player does it....he's a spoiled brat. Take any back we have and attempt to pound him between the tackles repeatedly and he's naturally going to slow down behind this line if not suffer bad injury. This is pure and simple bad offensive scheme. Put into the mix that all defenses are keying on that and successful in stopping it. Hurd knew it and CBJ and yes man Debord kept doing it. Think about it.....Hurd told him what most of us would like to tell him....." hey coach your 5 lineman are having trouble blocking the other teams front 7." GBO!!!!!
Seriously Behr? How can Hurd not be responsible for how poorly this team has played by himself? Do I really need to point out that Jalen Hurd is just a player. That he doesn't call plays. That he doesn't choose who starts. That he isn't responsible for S&C. That he hasn't spent the last 3 years coaching an Oline which has regressed. That he didn't tell Butch to forego getting a QB coach. Need I go on?
You've watched the same games I have, and the fact that you seem to buy into Butch's new mantra of "we're fine, everything's fine" in spite of what you are seeing each week is comically disturbing.
Rotten attitude is disruptive. I dont care if it was TT, no negative plays, Dormady looked very good, found another kick/punt returner and looked ready to play. I will take after what went on this past week.
This game will tell us absolutely nothing.
All the games before have told us plenty.
How did you know? Nailed it!!I fully expect to see a different team. I expect John Kelly to make a statement today and that will be "I should have been one of the featured rb's all along". His attacks will lift the spirits of the whole team, and I expect a high level of performance on both sides of the ball. There will be celebrations on the sidelines, chest bumps and glad handing! Team 120.2.0!
Go Vols!
I thought the game told us several things. Offense and defense both played with a sense of urgency from the start. That tells us the team is still invested in the season.
Lots of energy on the field and on the sidelines, especially following a big play, whether it be on offense, defense, and ST. That tells us the players are invested in each other and having fun.
We got to see a lot of those freshmen. Granted it wasn't P5 talent but we saw those freshmen' potential going forward.
What the game did not tell us is will the interior of the defense be able to defend the running game down the stretch and will Dobbs play with that sense of urgency and focus to finish his career.
WRs, TEs, RBs, OL all played well.
Warrior is a missile.
