How long should we give Pruitt?

Except for the fact he had won a national title at PITT so that gave people hope he would do the same here. I think Pruitt will get it done here but I got tired of the lame ass reasoning posted above for Butch Jones. It is not relevant, coaches weren't making millions in the 80s, hell I'm not sure Johnny was making 6 figures.
Johnny Majors according to this article was making 128,000 dollars a season in the 1980s which put him in the top 20

Honestly I've seen a lot of different opinions. I'm just curious how many years and why that long. What expectations do you have over these years? We didn't start out great but I do see a lot of positive coming from Pruitt. A lot of characteristics that over time could mold a solid football team. So how long do you give him before you jump off the bandwagon?
how long do 'WE' give him....wow...just wow

I think your title elicited the reaction but reading your actual post, I don't see anything wrong with your question.
If the title had been "How Long Will the Rebuild Take" followed with your exact same post, bet everyone responds differently.
I wouldn't say you're necessarily wrong but I also think youre coming into this thread making a assumption. Talking about the rebuild is apparently fine, but isn't Pruitt the rebuild? Isn't he the name that stands for everything? So as far as I'm aware, it's asking the same question just using another word to ask the same thing. Getting a little upset over phrasing seems like just being picky.

This whole is thread is retarded to even talk about this soon. People laugh at our fan base, and honestly dumbass questions like this after 1 game, new staff, scheme, etc, etc, I laugh right along with our hated rivals. I think most of our fan base is so out of touch with what would happen, we couldn't get a high school coach to step in if we fired him before 4 years.

You give any coach 3 or 4 years in general. But, it can be more or less depending on how things go. After one game it's impossible to make any kind of educated assessment. Given the size of the hole we're in, I'm not sure you can make even an initial judgment until the end of next year.

Seriously though, if he is heading the program in the right direction and doesn't have a big year of regression like Lyle did, nobody should be talking about this.

I said nothing wrong with your question. But I know how people's initial reaction sets a tone.
Just tried to explain why OTHERS reacted that way. But won't try to help again, my apologies.

It's fine to talk about what expectations we have for Pruitt. But not okay to have a idea of when they're expected? Insane.

If we beat WVU, we'd be worrying about if Pruitt is going to be Saban's replacement.

We'll be OK...recruiting at UT is almost idiot proof if staff is remotely competent...even Butch did this. Problem is, we were recruiting to a finesse system, which obviously doesn't play in SEC, unless you've got big skill players (Dobbs/Kamara, etc). Pruitt w/ Fulmer's support is getting us back to smash mouth football. He know's his stuff and he and his staff appear to be good teachers. Looking at next year schedule, I'd say pretty reasonable to get to 8-4, w/ even w/ losses to FL, SC, GA, Bama. Take a look at it...pretty good draw to have a Year 2 improvement, so I'd say Year 3 for big leap.

What's the big deal? There are threads on every conceivable subject on VN. Why is CJP's timeline sacrosanct?

Because the guy has coached 1 freaking game. Now this thread would be at least somewhat relevant at the conclusion of the season this year. What this thread tells me is that many are already assuming failure. Its got nothing to do with his timeline being sacrosanct. Its got to do with the absolute idiocy we have seen since Saturday.

Assumptions aren't always bad things. I just thought it was more of a assumption to think that the title was the only reason people were giving grief. The rest of what you said was pretty respectable.

Bullcrap. It's the Pruitt is Great crowd offended at the mere speculation he may fail. I got news for everyone, it is possible. We HOPE he is wildly successful but right now it is hope.
By the posts per hour in this thread it has generated a lot of opinions which is what a message board usually is used for...discussion.

I cannot even believe I am seeing this thread 60 game minutes into Pruitt' s career at UT. It's the equivalent of the groom checking out the bridesmaids while he is standing at the alter kissing the bride.

The coach is just another piece, like the players. NFL is a good example. Players are traded or signed in the off-season and then cut after camp. Sometimes they aren't what you thought, things change, etc. Just the nature of the business. The end goal is to win as many games as possible, however you have to do it. Don't wed yourself to a coach. We should have learned that by now.
