How long should we give Pruitt?

Idiotic thread.

4 years. Bare minimum
What's so idiotic about the thread? I'm not shaming his abilities to head coach or even judging him for the first game. Every coach takes a different amount of time to become successful if they do become that. I'm just curious what everyone else thinks he deserves to make this team great again.

All Coaches have kids they recruit to fit their program.. IMHO, Give this man time to get the kids to fit his program. I feel its absurd to judge him while trying to run his system with another coaches recruits .
There is a lot more that has to be fixed and changed on the hill ! i.e winning attitudes and culture. not going to happen tomorrow folks. just my 2 cents..

Since Fulmer was fired JP is the first respectable coach we have hired. At least he has a proven track record at winning as a coach.
Couldn't agree more. He doesn't have all the tools at his disposal from day one and that's okay. But I believe he's the kinda guy to get his hands dirty to find a way to make this team successful.

I'm so embarrassed to be part of a fan base that is talking about when we should give up on a coach after his first game.
It's not so much a give up question as it's a others opinions on when do we expect returns. Whats fair and what's not. It's a thread to figure out what's justified and what's not. Obviously one game shouldn't dictate how he is as a coach.

Give Coach Pruitt until 2002 to turn the Tennessee football program around. At least give him the same amount of time that Botch Jones got!

The rebuild is bigger than just about any other program has experienced in the modern era. We’re in worse shape than Penn St and USC after their sanctions because the level of our competition. Clemson is probably the only team that was nearly as low as we are now and that took Dabo years to fix. Don’t lump Alabama in here because we’re well below their bottom before Saban.

Pruitt wasn’t my top choice but he’s our guy now. He needs 4 or 5 years but you can usually tell what you have after 2-3 years. It will be painful but if he can get his guys in here, and keep solid assistants, then we might get there in 4 or 5 years.

It will be as difficult for me to stay optimistic as anyone else here trust me.

The rebuild is of the same scale,in my opinion, as the Johnny Majors rebuild of 1977-1982.
