How long has Monte got?

I say he will stick around for 4-5 years, so he can get Lane alot of good defensive recruits on that side of the ball & gets this program back to the top before he retires. Then it will be ALOT easier to find a good quality replacement.

He'll coach here until he is ready to retire... but guys like him don't retire.

I think he is really happy at Tennessee.

He won't retire unless he becomes senile and worthless like Joe Pa or Bobby Bowden. As long as he is effective he will be on the sideline.

Worst thread ever

100 % agree, Vol Nation sometimes is like the little psychotic ADD kid that sits in a chair banging his back against the frame of the chair trying to kill all that nervous energy.

It's like we're manic depressive and it's either NC after a win or suicide after a loss. Well, maybe it's not quite that bad, but I see a thread today after the gator loss guaranteeing that we're going to beat Bama. I thought we fought hard today and the defense played very well, but let's not take the temperature of the team after every game.

And then there are threads like this.........Could this be anymore insensitive?

Go Vols

Mmmm...Penn State will be ranked 4th or 5th come Monday

You're crazy if you think Joe Pa is still doing actual coaching. His assistants are doing all the leg work. He is a flag for the university at this point, nothing more.

Worst Thread ever? CMK is the BEST thing going for this team right now . . . . why talk about something that has no basis?

Last year Buc players said that Monte wanted to retire in 5 years. I don't know if anything has changed now. I can't see Monte staying until his mid-70's and I don't think UT wants to see him on the sidelines when he approaches the mid-late 70's. I think he had 5 years tops when he signed with UT. I think he will stick around for another 4 years.

Well...they could talk about taking out insurance on him.

Why is it a bad thread? It is a legitimate question. He's a great coach, but he's old and won' be coaching that much longer. Maybe 10 years at the most, depending on the situation.

What is wrong with discusssing this?

I believe a few posters took the original question to mean how much longer Monte has on this Earth rather than how much longer he'll coach...
