Dooley was full of praise for the O-Line yesterday: talented, working hard, great attitude.

However, he said they would never be good until they got some experience.

I'm hoping the UT Martin game is enough. GBO! :)

In truth, I think by mid-season there will be a real step-change in performance (sans injuries). I'm looking at you Georgia.....

It will be at least 4 or 5 games before we know how well they will play. How they play against UT martin won't prove much.

ut martin wont prove anything oregon and florida will show us alot of fronts and combo blitzes that will really prepare these guys for the rest of the season. i expect a good showing vs. ut martin then a stepback vs. florida and oregon then should be an above average unit the rest of the year

2 of our first 3 games will be the biggest test.....if they can survive the first 2 weeks I think they'll be all right after that

I think our preception of play and skills will be greatly influenced by yards per rush and how bad the QB'S are banged up.

They'll learn all year. Defensive coordinators know they're young and they'll see different formations and blitz packages all year. Probably why they'll play Simms a lot because he is the most mobile QB of the bunch. If they avoid injuries they should be a decent line by the latter half of the year.

They will have plenty of experience after getting through the Oregon and Florida games. I wish we were playing '08 UCLA instead of '10 Oregon...

Going with 5 games here. Gives em enough experience to know what to expect a high % of the time both with mental aspects and toughness.

Either that or they go into vegetative states from the trauma.
True, those will possibly be the best two d-lines they face all year. We'll know pretty quick how much work they have to do to become a good line.

Real test is Florida.. That D-Line worries me.

I'm not saying they won't be a big test... but UF lost their best DE by far and has 4 new starters. The one weakness Meyer has struggled with his whole time at UF has been DT. For whatever reason they keep getting highly rated guys who do not live up to the standard of the rest of their D.

I think honestly Oregon could be a bigger test for the OL. They return all 4 starters and 3 are Sr's.

Both D's are undersized on the DL. UT after the summer of Wylie isn't small on the OL anymore. UT could have some success lining up and running it right at both D's.

They were pretty stout there in 2006, albeit with Zook's guys. Seems like they've signed about four 5 stars there in the last couple of years. If just one of them lives up to his billing, they'll be pretty nasty.

How are there 4 new starters when only 2 left?

He seriously said they conditionally wouldn't be good? Did he fail the coachspeak courses?

Maybe I shouldn't but I went off CFN's depth chart. They showed the two returning DT's as back ups rather than starters.

I think you would agree though that DT has been a constant source of disappointment for UF.

To a degree, but it's relative to other positions.

It's not like dt has been a problem.

Except bama, I can't think of a team that has run the ball particularly well against florida the last 2 years
