How long does the next HC get given what’s happened?

Depends on who it is. Who can't bring a dud in and just blame it on the program. I am not saying he has to come win big but he has to come in a lay a foundation with what he has that makes everybody believe and have trust in that we can overcome once the sanctions are gone. Someone like a Gus Malazhn would be trusted a lot longer. To me he has to create hope that once it's all over we can rebound.

Simple question.

Simple question but no simple answer

1. Depends on pedigree of coach. Bill O' Brien will get more time than Kevin Steele
2. Depends on how long investigation takes. If we have uncertainty for the next 24 months, that would kill recruiting.
3. Depends on impact of investigation. What's scholarship impact, postseaon impact.
4. Most importantly, depends on how good the coach is.

They’ll have to give them some time. They’ve also got to stand behind this coach and invest in him or her. I said her simply because who knows what Tennessee is about to pull out of the hat...

Excellent post. Not all situations are the same. I don’t think you can just blindly say if the next coach doesn’t get it done in 3 years then he has to go. Especially with what’s going on.

Tennessee needs to go the safe route. Hire a known sec coach that may not win the division much but will win 8-10 games for a couple years and also recover in the recruiting department. Next year I wouldn't even count.

If they spend money......I’d say 5 years.

If they go on the cheap.......I’d say 4-5 years. Unless something happened.

We are in a perfect situation I totally see big opportunity here.
#1 Hire a really good coach for a 7 year deal.
#2 probably on probation first two years anyway so don't have to worry about pitchforks.
#3 By the time off probation should be two recruiting classes deep.
#4 Even with reduced scholarships as long as we have a great staff that can develope . Stock up on 3 -4 stars coach them up first couple years.
#5 MOST important , we CANNOT hire a group of 5 coach no matter what.

The Opportunity here is perfect.

Based on our history, he will only get 3-4 years and we will be calling for his head. By the looks of it, it is going to take a loooonnnnnnggg time to get back to winning and we won’t be patient with anyone to get to that

This is what I think as well. There are many fans who just cannot fathom a rebuild that actually takes time.

People got what they wished for...gotta have a coaching change every 3 years and this time we have no players or recruits left...next HC will need at least 5 to get back to .500...GBO
