about a six pack!! :toast:

Google and Yahoo map times are generally conservative relative to driving times. However, you can never overestimate the odds of a wreck on one of the interstates, plus the traffic on 316 will be awful if you are planning on coming on Saturday close to game time.

Not nearly as bad as it was years ago when there was one lane in, and one lane out.

Traffic can still be bad when you get closer to Athens. Leave early.

If your last name is Crompton...it takes five overthrows, four passes into the stands, three interceptions, and two fumbled handoffs.

It's an hour and a half from the state line to downtown Atlanta. It's an hour and ten minutes from my house (Buckhead) to Athens. You have to go around the top end of the perimeter, but that's probably canceled out by not coming all the way into the city and back out. If I didn't think traffic would be a factor, I'd allow three hours, which builds in time to make a quick stop.

Do not expect it to take three hours if you're doing this on Saturday morning, though. Getting into Athens can be a pain in the arse. If I were coming on Saturday morning, I'd plan for the trip to take five hours and consider anything less than that bonus beer time.

. . . and no matter how much shorter it looks on the map, do not under any circumstances attempt to cut across country somewhere like Cartersville. It will be the longest drive of your life. Just go 75 to Atlanta - across the top end of 285 and then to Athens.

This is a great point which cannot be emphasized enough.
