How long do you think we have to wait now?

We do not have the depth and I seriously wonder how long it will take us to have a team that can compete (once again…thanks AD). I get so sick of watching teams like Arky turn things around so quickly and we struggle. How long before we aren’t the laughing stock of the SEC? Nothing against our team…it’s really a talent and depth issue.

Arkansas is a rare exception, though I question that they've turned anything around "quickly" as they last won more than 8 games 10 years ago. But probably 3 to 5 years. That according to how the NCAA stuff shakes out. Anything quicker and Huepel is a miracle worker considering we had to rebuild the team and athletic department both at the same time.

Arky didn’t have 30+ enter the portal. I feel as good about the direction of Tennessee football right now as I have in a good while.

Maybe never. But tonight they fought and didn’t give up. The drop by Calloway cost us the chance to be competitive for the whole game.

Bout five more years

Yeah, UT's roster was almost as devastated as it was when Butch delivered UT's first winless conference season in the history of the program. The problems with turning this program around run deep.

You have change the culture while losing games, you have to recruit players that are a good as the top 10 programs, you have stock your roster with those types of players, you have to find a way to pay your players a salary commiserate with those same top 10 programs, and you have try to catch everyone else that's already doing all of the above.

It's gonna be a while.

How much talent does it take to not consistently false start?

Evidently Sam Pittman is pretty good. Always was a good O line coach but who knew he could be a good head coach. On the other hand we’ve made four POOR hires in 13 years and that sets you back. Too early to tell about Heupel.

Seriously? Ut has been through this for umpteen years and countless coaching staffs! The answer: as long as I thought at the beginning of the year. How many times can anyone say this: UT is going to have to take some lumps to get on the other side of this. I said that 3 coaches ago and with the patience of the fanbase as low as it is I’ll probably still be saying it 3 coaches from now. Eventually ppl are gonna put their money where their mouth is on this patience thing, stop the blaming and finger pointing and ride all this out. Some will go kicking and screaming. They’ll burn all the jerseys and boycott Neyland. But at least they’ll go. Come back when the losses don’t sting as much and/or UT as a program is in a more stable place.
