How is our fanbase divided?

Where do you live and how do you stand on the Dooley issue?

What if I lived in Tennessee, was opposed to Dooley, then changed my mind and thought he was the man for the job and then I moved out of state and came to the conclusion Dooley was over his head, however after much thought I decided he should be here another year?

I actually mirror his thoughts. I don't know if Dooley is the man and I don't know if he should be fired. There should be a selection for tweeners. Having absolute extremes is very pointless.

Yes I agree, I didnt do a good job of creating the initial poll, however, I did specify that if you are still on the fence to select Dooleys the man. I too am on the fence but if someone held a gun to my head I think I would have to stick with Dooley.

who is out there that would take this job?? Dooley is the best option for now imo. We will not pay the cash it would take to get Gruden here so get real Vol fans!!

You should do a similar poll, but instead of residence, you should control for whether or not the voter graduated with a degree from UT. That might be interesting information.

IMO, should be a poll on how long they've been a fan (25+, 15+, 10 or less years) vs their stance on Dooley.

I would love to think Dooley is the man we need but in his 3rd year he still doesn't have a signature win. I like who he is and the players he wants to bring in (men of character) but I'm just unsure if he's a big time, SEC head coach. He inherited an awful thing here at the University but has had chances to win big games (i.e. at LSU in '10, UGA this year) but also nowhere close in other games (i.e. UA). There's a lot that goes in to whether he should keep his job or not but if the rest of the year doesn't show much improvement (wins over MSU or USC plus winning all SEC games after the USC game) I don't think CDD will be in authority when next year rolls around.

And putting your avi as a crossed-out Dooley head certainly lends itself to the assumption that you are hoping this team wins out. Well done on not being confusing at all. I certainly applaud your creative efforts.

I am making a statement with my avatar, get over it. It goes exactly with my opinion on Dooley, but has nothing to do with wanting to win out lol. How does a post that says "Dooley is not the guy" and an avatar with his pic crossed out confuse you? Do you not think one can support a team fully with 0 faith in the Head Coach? What about still loving America with no faith in our President?

To some just sitting by and keeping your mouth shut is what a fan should to, and I will never be that fan.

Also when I put that avatar up I also said when Dooley beats a ranked team I will remove it. I "hope" we win out lol, thats blind hope. Realistically I think we finish 7-5 at best and most likely 6-6. Because I believe this to be true doesnt mean its what I want.

I live in chattanooga, i did not graduate from ut (and i dont see how that affects my fandom) and i support dooley to an extent. He has my full support until he is no longer coach. If/when he leaves here i will not bash him because imo he has done a lot of good for the university. He has till the end of this year to show tangible evidence that he should be coach. That evidence needs to be in the form of wins. If he does not lead us to 8 wins and remains coach i will still support him but will no longer feel the need to defend him to the more negative fans.

Season isn't over yet.

You're correct, and that's exactly why I'm not bashing him because any big win the past two years would have been an absolute steal. I feel like this year might have to be the year where he has to win a big game. I don't want to see a coaching change right now because of what the program has been through and what the University is going through as a whole unless it's someone that we just absolutely can't pass up.

I will say this....

"United we stand; divided we fall."

I think my Uncle Jethro said that one time...when we were making a family pyramid for a photo op.

Just wondering how the fan base is divided. Seems to me a majority of the anti-Dooley crowd comes from within our border and a majority of the sunshine pumpers live outside Tennessee. I could be wrong, I guess I will find out soon enough.

Since I cant add more choices to the poll, If your in the crowd that is still undecided go ahead and choose Dooleys the man, just pick inside TN or outside.

Respond to this poll as if someone had a gun to your head and you had to pick one.

You need to add "I just do not know at this time"

So with 89 votes cast, I think we can say that it does not matter if you live in Tennessee or elsewhere. By an overwhelmming 2-1 margain, the VolNation still feels that Dools is the man to get the job done.

Interesting!

Adding 'the gun to head' line was a good move...it got me off the fence.

As I said the night before the NC State game, for me the real evaluation for Coach Dooley would be this year's season. I'm going to let the entire season play out before I give a final opinion on him but I will say this, it's not looking good.

I'm from far southern middle Tennessee, but currently reside in Chattanooga for college.

I don't worship at the feet of Dooley, but I know if the extremists had their way and we fired Dooley now our program will still be In this funk 4 years from now. I hope he is the answer but after all choices have been exhausted I will agree to getting a new coach.

We have had 800 poles that show the fire him now crowd is a vast minority.

They just yell louder then anyone else. I also know for a fact a couple of them that have more then one account on here so they can like/agree with their own posts in order to make it seem they have more support then they do.

Simple FACT of the matter is.. we will see where we are at the end of the season. Anyone even talking about it right now is purposefully trying to hurt the program to get him gone.

Some people tend to be proactive. When they see a guy who has finished off a 30 pack of bud light start to get into the drivers seat of his truck they stop him. Others sit back and wait to see the highlights of the 11 car pile up on Interstate 75 where 6 people were killed on the 11 o'clock news. Just because people want to stop the chaos, does not make them wrong. :good!:

In this instance, it doesn't make them right either...

Can we get an option that's more neutral and reasonable like "I think Dooley is meeting expectations this season?"
