How is KY projected as a #1 seed and Tennessee #2 seed in the NCAA

I probably shouldn't be the first to answer because there are countless others more knowledgeable than me, but I believe it's because their RPI is a good bit better. And I think that's mainly because their non conference strength of schedule was significantly better.

Our non conference RPI is actually better than Kentucky’s. They played the more difficult conference schedule though. Kentucky also cancelled two midweek games at the end of the season to save that OOC RPI from dropping further. Just my opinion but I think the selection committee will punish them and give them the #3 seed. They sent out a memo to all the schools specifically telling teams not to do that and they did it anyways. They covered it up as “due to inclement weather” but everyone knows they didn’t want to hurt their RPI. Who knows, they could have lost either of those games and our overall RPI would be very close.
