How good is Arkansas State QB Fredi Knighten?

His size probably hurt his recruitment. 5-11 175 lbs. Any kid that throws for almost 9,000 yards in basically his junior and senior season, can't be all that bad. I'll hold judgement on him until Saturday.

Drew Brees told him he was plenty tall!

He was a 2 star with only 2 committable offers. Unless every college football coach missed on him, the second coming of Mike Vick he is not. I would say not very good against quality opponents.

He was recruited by one of those coaches that wasn't around long, so I don't know what we have with him.

Edit: Oh yeah, he was recruited by Arthur Gustav.

Also, for what it's worth, they beat Montana State by less than we beat Utah State and the game is in Neyland. chance of loss = zippy.

I agree the VOLS will win, as we should. But that's just the scoreboard. I want to see every position group win their individual battles with an improvement over last weeks showing in the win over USU. To compete in the SEC and get to a bowl, AND WIN IT, we have to show marked improvement in a few areas (OL & run game, pass protection), and continue to improve all others.

Containing the Arky St QB Knighten who is, and has been healthy vs. the USU QB Keaton coming off major surgery to play his first full speed game are two different things.

A few hard hits from the defense and Knighten may become more "one dimensional" or so we hope this is the case.

There is also the chance that Knighten will make the defense earn a hard fought game.
Go Vols

Depends on his supporting cast vs Keetons. CK didn't have much of an ooffense to backup his playing ability. Knighten will probably have a better game.

I'm more afraid (if that's the right word...) of their "do everything" player. I think his name is McKissick(?). It sounds like he's a home run threat everytime he touches the ball.

I think the kid is better than Chuckie at this point in time. Keeton is far from being 100% and it showed. There were times he could have picked up good yardage on us if he wanted to run. Knighten won't have the problem at first. He may after he gets popped a couple of times.

Guys he plays for Arkansas State. Whom struggled with Montana State. He is a decent QB but one who should not give us much trouble.

hes in the early stages of development as a passer. Thats for sure. If he is contained on the ground like Chuckie Keeton was he will have a hard time throwing the football consistently. Their score against Montana State looks like a blowout but it was like 13-10 with like 5 minutes to go in the 3rd

keeton is a better passer whether he showed it or not Sunday night. Thats not what Knighten is very good at.

We'll probably try and confuse him with different looks and JRM and Weathered likely will spy a good amount of the time. I'm not real worried.

I hope his backup doesn't have to come in, due to us laying him out. No matter who we play that's always trouble for us.

GBO!!!!!
