How good is this kid? During his senior season (2011-12) he accounted for 82 touchdowns. He threw for 66, ran for 15 and caught one.

Fredi Knighten's (Little Rock, AR) High School Football Stats

He really hasn't played much until this year. Last year he saw limited action but came into the GoDaddy Bowl and won the game.

Game ball goes to: Knighten, a sophomore, who came off the bench late in the first quarter and sparked the Red Wolves with his ability to run and pass. When starter Adam Kennedy was ineffective, Knighten stepped up and led ASU in rushing 19 times for 97 yards and completing 15 of 20 passes for 115 yards and the game-winning touchdown. His last pass, the TD pass, was his best of the night.

Against Montana State last week he completed 19 of 29 passes for 219 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions. He ran 16 times for 93 yards, a 5.8-yard average.

Thoughts?

Should give our D plenty of practice on running sideline to sideline. If they play as fast as they did last week it will be a long day for AKST.

I would not underestimate anyone or any team. Mobile QBs are dangerous, IF UT was to have an off day, you don't want to face a QB having a great day.

Go Vols!!!

Containment and force him to be one dimensional. Defense comes out with the same intensity as last week, we'll be fine.

Last year's team would have worried me as we were not disciplined on the edge. This year, at least thus far, we seem to have figured it out. I think knighten is a good Qb but we will contain and limit his running attempts.

It looks like we have a much faster and more athletic d line than last year.. That'll be huge against teams like this, mizzou, and even ole miss..

Not sure how it'll translate against teams like bama and uga though.

Those running lanes close a lot quicker when all 11 guys are big strong fast athletes. He didn't see that against ball state and certainly not against montana state... he will this week.

He has great pocket presence, but his ability is outside the pocket. This kid can really wing it on the run.

Need to hit him in the mouth early. If there is one thing you always see watching FB. If they get hit hard enough. They eventually slow down and make mistakes.

This is exactly what I think happened to Chucky last week.. Even (coleman I think) said something like, after he got hit early, he was scared to run.

Also, for what it's worth, they beat Montana State by less than we beat Utah State and the game is in Neyland. chance of loss = zippy.

When our D shuts him down it'll be because of our ability not his inability. Kid's good and that'll make our win better.

He was a 2 star with only 2 committable offers. Unless every college football coach missed on him, the second coming of Mike Vick he is not. I would say not very good against quality opponents.

Depends on his supporting cast vs Keetons. CK didn't have much of an ooffense to backup his playing ability. Knighten will probably have a better game.

I wouldn't judge him based on offers. Living here in Arkansas I've had the opportunity to watch him and the kid is pretty good. As someone said earlier he shines outside the pocket. We still should win going away but its another chance to fine tune before the big boys start coming to town.

I would agree but he isn't in high school anymore... So that really doesn't matter anymore all those stars or lack of them are gone as soon as you sign your commitment letter. Just ask Mosley.

Need to see the same defense we displayed last week before I'm a believer but I was encouraged by what I saw.

Yeah and Tom Brady was a 6th round draft pick. Reckon he'll ever make it in the NFL? Coaches miss on talent assessments every once in a while.:)

His size probably hurt his recruitment. 5-11 175 lbs. Any kid that throws for almost 9,000 yards in basically his junior and senior season, can't be all that bad. I'll hold judgement on him until Saturday.
