How good are we really?

I think 11-1 is crazy, but what I do like is the fact that we are even debating it. That same comment would have never been made a year ago. Things are definately looking up on Rocky Top.

I can honestly see us going 9-3. I see us losing to Bama, LSU and Arkansas. The SEC East has not impressed me very much this year, and I think we can run the table on those guys.

It all starts this weekend. Wil Muschamp is in for a rude awakening on his SEC debut!

I think we are too young and not deep enough to go 11-1. If we win this weekend, I think we can go 8-4.

We are still not comfortable on any position on defense. We are still playing nervous and sluggish cause we don't yet know fully what we're doing. Once that happens , look out. But for now we aren't likely to win more than 8-9 games. I do think Bray is better than Peyton was at this point .

I called for 10 wins before the season started and I am not backing off just yet..

but before the rest of you jump on the bandwagon, you will probably want to see the UF game first.. then you can come on over to the double digit win train...

but according to people here Florida don't have nothing,so even IF we beat them what has been proven?

We have the offence to do it, it just depends how the D plays but Bray by the time hes gone will break alot of mannings records that doesnt mean hes a better QB but bray is a hell of a QB!!

I think your the one that is off the rocker. Georgia, South Carolina, and Arkansas are not that good, and Florida is a pretty legit team, but we handle all of them. I even think we stick it to LSU at home also. I'm only worried about Bama that is it. Again, Georgia is horrible, soft defense, an offense that lives on prayers, and is in deep, deep turmoil. Georgia doesn't win more than 5 games. GUARANTEED!!!

Sure we can. Will we handle them all? I'd bet against it.

We looked better against Cinncinatti, but that's still isn't the same as regular SEC teams.

I'm looking forward to seeing the defense against Florida before making a decision on how I feel about the rest of the season. It looks promising, but who knows. If Tauren and the oline can really get going, who has a better offense than us in the SEC?

8. Wish people would stop claiming Bray as better than Peyton at this point or at all. Bray has arguable better receivers. Has played weaker competition and has a lot to prove to everyone, including himself and the coaches. Go back and watch some film of Peyton in his sophomore more year.. frigid awesome, we DID go 11-1.

I will be very surprised and delighted if Bray is better than Clausen was in his sophomore year. Arguably the most complete and dynamic offense we have had since i have been watching UT.

Ummm,,,Bray is already beating the records set by Manning. And the one record,,,something like 500 yards that Manning had against UK,,,I bet that goes down this year as well. As for Clausen,,,did he set any records at UT? Bottom line is that Bray is the real deal and delivers the bread to the basket - with alarming accuracy. No doubt about it. Now that we start playing the meat of the SEC we will all see how good, or great this kid really is. Our O-line looked shabby in the Montana game, found their feet against Cincy, and have done a heck of a job protecting Bray. Bray is starting to show the leadership qualities that all great QB's possess. You can bet that Muschamp will be mixing things up on D and test our young offense - GREAT - let them bring the sink. And when our offense pulls the plug on the sink it will only make them better. Am I confident, hell yes!! One last thing, if anybody is rooting for Bray to beat Peytons records,,Peyton is probably rooting the loudest! GBO

Bray's receivers may be a bit better , but Peyton's Oline was absurdly better

11-1 is insane.

We have an outside shot of developing the best pass attack in the SEC this season. That will mean we can never be counted out of a game. On the other side, our pass defense looks solid. They will have a real test at Arkansas though.

But, we still have issues in spots that make it very, very difficult to have any sort of success in the SEC. For one, I'm still seeing fairly poor run blocking. It's not from lack of skill, our offensive linemen just don't look that big. They seem capable enough to set in and get good pass blocks, which indicates they know what to do, but that's just not the same as the raw strength it takes to push people around and open up running lanes. I fear this is going to cause us some very serious issues numerous times this season. Also, while Malik has looked solid on the d-line so far, our linebackers are still underwhelming and a big question mark, and with Crowell and Lattimore in the division, that could be tough.

I said 7-5 the second the Music City Bowl against UNC ended, and I'm sticking with it.

That said, while the squad are deserving dogs in the swamp, if the near-unthinkable happens and we get out of there with a win, we stand a reasonable shot of winning the division -- even if it's with seven or eight wins.

Don't see 11-1 this year. I do see that we could go 8-4, even 9-3 isn't too far of a reach, but not 11-1. That becomes a very real possibility next season.

Let's don't get too carried away after a win over a Big East team. I think all the media jumping on the Cincinnati bandwagon before the game gave a lot of folks a false impression that we beat a really good team. Cincinnati is mediocre at best, and their defense is terrible. My orange heart wants to think we are good too, but my head tells me to wait and see how we do against the big boys.

This team can't do anything but take it one game at a time. Just enjoy the ride this year. There will be some peaks and valleys.

I don't think your Crazy.. I think this week will tell us a lot.. We can see how good we play against a real opponent and Thursday night we get to see LSU play Miss St. Bama is going to be a tough game.. but it's usually anyones game.. I think it's too early to make any arguments either way..

Even when we were great, I was cautious about saying
11-1. Anything can happen in the SEC...in college football for that matter. But I don't think we will be there until next year. I am just hoping for 7 wins and that Bray will stay healthy for the entire season.

It will be damn near impossible for Tennessee to beat teams like LSU and Bama with a one dimensional offense.

Also, when you rely on the big pass play, there will be times when it doesn't work out well.

One Dimensional?? Really?? One dimensional would be Bray passing to Hunter, No run game (AT ALL), and no other receivers that could catch...

We have Hunter, Da'Rick, Rogers, Rivera, all lighting up the field.. That is almost impossible for a team to stop.. As for our run game which obviously you don't think we have... We are averaging 4.8 yards per carry.. That's not horrible!!!! Ok sure it's not the big run game we are used to but it doesn't have to be.. If teams try to cover all our receiving weapons... we will burn them on the run.. It's simple as that.. Offensively we should be darn near unstoppable.. You will see teams BLITZ the crap out of us to try and disrupt Bray.. I know we'll see that this weekend..

If you should be concerned about anything, It should be our defense.. We have to tackle much better if we expect to win.. Every game can't be a shootout.. We also can't hit people in the backfield then let them run for 65 yards and a TD...

And last but not least, my favorite, "The team with the fewest mistakes wins the game." Couldn't be more true for this team.. We are still young.. We can not afford to turn the ball over or make mental errors in any of the upcoming games this season. If we can do this, I believe you will see a very successful team this season!! GO VOLS!
