How Far Can This Team Go?

After considerable thought.......err, until someone beats us. Mercer won't and they match up with michigan and texas very well so..........

I dont take that as a crack on Zo or the vols.....Like playing mercer.......I wish we were playing duke if I knew we were going to win.....I would rather play mercer than lose though lol

I wasn't taking it as a shot at Zo, just that the thinking is kind of silly.

Lol @ people dictating how they would "prefer" we make it to our first Final Four in the history of the program.

That's similar to saying, "Yeah, I'd like a roll in the hay with Kate Upton, but not if I were her third choice."

I only want Kate Upton if she is completely sober and she picked me over several professional athletes, models and rock stars.

Hay doesn't give you the Clap/VD if its hays third choice in a few days...:)

If we had a lights out true PG the final four wouldn't be a stretch.

Barton is not bad--but he's not good either, and winning in the NCAA is typically about how many good players you have. We actually have three in McRae, Richardson and Stokes, which isn't bad. If we had a baller at PG, and if Maymon had any kind of offensive game (he's got nothing but making layups), we'd be truly dangerous.

Maymon may not be dominant offensively but he was our third leading scorer and had the highest FG% on the team.

We lost to Mercer last year in NIT. That game is not a lock. Hope they played their best game against Duke. If we win Michigan will blow us out. They are pretty good.

Eh, I watched them lose to a terrible Indiana team and require a last second miracle in O.T. to beat a terrible Purdue team. They are good when you let them play their game, but when you shut down Stauskis, they are beatable. Texas is trying to run with them, and that's pretty much death.

I'm a hopeless optimist. I think we can make some noise in this tourney. Just look at the last two games. Can you say there have been teams performing better? What's your take?

We will likely beat Mercer but will likely lose to Michigan. So, we hit the Sweet 16; which is much better than we thought just three weeks ago.

We had problems thinking that we would realistically make it to the NCAA; much less to the Sweet 16....

If we win tomorrow evening, that will no longer be a concern. Our next game would be on Friday, which would give the players plenty of time to rest up and prepare for the regional semi-final in Indianapolis on the 28th.

That's what I'm saying. I really think Mercer will be a tougher game than michigan, simply because of the 3rd in 5 days factor and our short bench.
If we get there McRae hangs 30 plus on the Wolverines.

Me, either. That's why I asked the forum. I just think that, based on our play the last couple game,s we can make a run. Can't count our chickens, but is (gasp) a final four possible? That would involve beating AZ, I believe.

not according to my bracket

I believe, if somehow we beat Michigan (if we get the chance to play them ) we will make it to the finals. Who the hell knows from there.

Tennessee loses to Michigan in the Sweet 16.

That's what I'm thinkin. Wouldn't be a bad fate at all. I can see Michigan in the finals. Unless we match up really well with them, as some are saying, that match-up doesn't look promising at all.

I gotta say, I was a fan of Texas tonight. I told my bartender that I don't think we can win against Michigan if we get there.

If they continue the solid D, and the refs continue to allow physical play, then the key to me is how few 3's we jack. Both Richardson and McRae have been much more effective with their pull up shots vs the 3 ball. In addition, the shorter shots tend to not bounce far from the rim aiding our offensive rebounders. I'd be fine with no more 3's in the tourney.
