I think we have 3 possible outcomes
1. Georgia runs away with it and we reach the event horizon of the Butch Jones era where a coaching change is only a matter of time
2. Georgia wins a close one and buys Butch a little more time b/c the team looked better.
3. UT wins a close one and Butch buys himself another season at least and the possibility of 10-2

1. UGA runs away with it
2. Rinse and repeat #1
3. UGA literally runs away with it.

What concerns me about this game is the two big "IFS". IF we play Saturday like we played last Saturday and IF the dawgs play like they did last Saturday....well the consequences you spoke about could really be far reaching both for the coaching staff, the team's future and on the fan base. Let's hope neither "IF" happens!
Get ur dun Vols.

Repeat of 2007 is how it's going to go.

I see only 3 possible outcomes in this game:

1. Tennessee loses in a blowout.
2. Tennessee loses a very close game, and it is because they beat themselves.
3. Tennessee wins a very close game, and it is because Georgia beats themselves.

fixed that for you

3. UT wins a close one and Butch buys himself another season at least but still the possibility of 5-7 which could change all of that

1. We’ve already reached that event horizon.
2. He’s had plenty of time. One game won’t change that.
3. Again, one game isn’t buying him another year. And to think 10-2 is a possibility is laughable.

If the GA Defense that played Miss St shows up, I don't see us scoring enough to win?!?

And it brings no pleasure to say that!

1. Georgia takes us to the woodshed-Butch may not be coaching against S. Carolina
2. Georgia wins a close one-Butch gets to coach against S. Carolina..wait and see mode
3. Vols win a close one-Butch increases his chances of coaching next year...still wait and see mode.

What else is there to “wait and see”? Is 4+ years not enough? And if not, what are the serious expectations for the rest of the year based on those 4+ years? I just don’t get “wait and see”. Maybe 2 years ago, but not now.

If you're referring to my post, I agree with you 100% I've seen all I need to see. My personal opinion is that a loss to Georgia by any margin should result in CBJ being fired over the bye week. Many will disagree with that but I've seen enough. I was just speculating on what I think will happen.

LOL I love the "3 outcomes".......people covering most of the bases here. Heck there is only one more possible outcome (and that is the one which is least likely to happen).

Not in a rational persons mind.

The first two years a coach is continuing to flush out the remnants of the previous staff's culture. The 3rd and 4th year are typically spent improving the coaching staff you brought with you. Years 5 and 6 should be years in which you begin to hit your stride barring unfortunate circumstances causing you problems.

In year 5 this team is off to a 3-1 start with all their goals still attainable. At the end of the sixth year is when an administrator can definitively say the coach has found his ceiling.

Of course everyone knows that keyboard AD's are much better at knowing when a program needs a change than anyone in position to actually make the change. The only thing the keyboard ADs can do is spread their poison and hope to damage the program enough to make a difference.

I'm not happy with Butch either, but to think that he will be anywhere close to fired if he somehow wins this game is just way out there. A victory sets this team up to have a pretty good season and the administration would be remiss to not let it play out.

Problem is us fans have no say on when or if Butch goes.

That’s rich coming from a guy who in the very same post is saying when and what an AD should do/say.

According to you, we should have kept Dooley for a few more years. Your logic is flawed. No shame in owning up to it.

Would love to see us come out and dominate their cocky team. Send them home crying like when we stomped them in Athens to ruin "their season" with Pollack and Green.

That was the funniest game I ever attended watching their fans literally cry and sit stunned afterward. Let's replay that.

I’m not saying he’ll be fired directly after the game, win or lose. I do think it happens this year, though.
