How does the team respond this coming week?

Georgia is clearly the weak link in our October schedule. That said, do we have anything left after this heartbreak? Or do we realize we just played a good team to the brink in their house and build on that? The way this season is going, I'm withholding my guesses...anything is possible at this point.

I just hope they are not deflated after that emotional loss.

I'm glad that Georgia had a fairly emotional loss as well. They were in easy field goal range, down 2, and fumbled to end the game. And that was to lose their 4th straight. There's just as much chance of them coming out flat as us.

I hope we can focus this into motivation. But I have no idea what to expect.

Great question OP. That's what has been on my mind since last night. Do the players have any resolve left after such a heartbreaking and gut wrenching loss?

That's the big question I keep going back to. After what happened, can Dooley and the coaches shine a light on all the good things that the team did and build them back up for the Georgia game. I pray these young guys can just shake this off the best they can and move on.

I expect a hangover. Georgia might have one too after losing to a awful Colorado team.

But also on the other side of this equation, does UGA have the resolve as well? They just suffered another huge loss also.

The Tennessee Georgia game next week, will be Epic! lol

On another note, I just looked outside....The Sun came out this morning!

It's very easy to lose sight of just how much improvement the Vols showed on the field yesterday. Everyone is caught up in the last few moments of the game, and understandably so since it was a freak series of events -- much like a plane crash.

- We ran the ball successfully against one of the best run defenses on their home field.
- We did not turn the ball over, even though we tried a few times.
- We showed huge improvement on both the kick coverage and kick return teams.
- While tackling was still suspect it was an improvement over last week against UAB.
- Simms, while under ridiculous amounts of pressure made some huge throws.
- Janzen took a huge step in his progression towards being a great player -- ala, living up to the hype.

Let's just hope the team that traveled to Baton Rouge shows up in Athens, not the team that showed up against UAB.

Home field advantage will help UGA. Hopefully TN deals with the loss this week and comes back strong. It would have to be tough to bounce back after that kind of loss though.

The game next weekend actually is going to be epic. One teams and their fanbase will likely been sent into total tailspin, and the other will live at least to fight another day. We're going to learn a lot about this team by how they respond from yesterday. Imagine the meltdown here if we go down there and UGA hammers us with Bama on the horizon. I could honestly see us losing out if that happens. Even DD's biggest supporters will be forced to ask some serious questions. At the same time, a win would give everyone some hope and leave a bowl game still an attainable goal. A loss will all but eliminate that scenario, and it'll only be the second weekend in October.

On the other hand, a loss to UT might actually be the final nail in Richt's coffin. It would put them in a situation where they would have to win out to even break .500 in the SEC. A lot really will be on the line next weekend.

What question are saying a coach fielding a team made of 50% freshman is under the gun, please. Anyone that cannot see Dooley has us headed in the right direction has no knowledge of football. GO VOLS!

This week got a lot bigger after yesterday. I feel like we win that game yesterday and that pretty much gurantees us a bowl game. We win yesterday and go down and take out UGA and head in to the Bama game with some momentum. I think they will go down to UGA with the attitude of knowing they can beat them, it just takes execution and focus for 60 minutes, not 59:40.

If both teams have hangovers then this could be one butt-ugly football game. Almost as ugly as UGA whatever number he is.

I agree. Dooley looked like he was on a mission when he was walking off the field yesterday. I think the LSU game might light a fire under this team's ass.

With such a heartbreaking loss, how do you guys think the team will respond? Will they be pissed and come out and destroy UGA or will they come out and play emotionless football? I really feel if we would have won that game we could have easily one 7 if not 8 games this year. What are your guys opinions?
