How do you slow this down?

I was thinking...what adjustments would I make against Oregon's style of offense. Not only are they fast, but they are quick Tempo as well.

Emphasize ball control, run, short passes, convert short yardage third downs at a high cut.

We'd better hope our talent at DT is a lot better than we think it is though. If Oregon's O-line can handle themselves (which may or may not be the case) we may be in for a long day. James and Barner can both get a lot of yards in a hurry, they will probably be the fastest two backs we face on offense all season.

Actually, I feel a little better now. New Mexico's D was constantly out of position.

new mexico is truly atrocious. not much can be taken from either of our games, just line it up and get after their tails.

UNM was terrible yesterday. They did lose their star LB who is supposedly a draft-quality talent, early on. Awful, awful game by UNM. Don't read too much into it for the Ducks except that they do know how to execute.

They are still a terrible road team, and I get the feeling this may be another case of Pac-10 lines getting out-sized and strengthed by lines from the SEC or Big Ten.

I think with Oregons style, their smaller Oline helps them..

We have to control the ball, time of possession is huge. No turnovers/ penalties, and no big mistakes on special teams.

Run the ball a lot, complete a lot of passes. That's generally how you win every game.

Assignment football, everyone is responsible for containment and controlling their gap. When paying a team that runs the spread option you have to play disciplined football, gotta trust your teammates to be in the right spots.

If UT over-pursues, we will get out of position and get lit up all day. Chances are we don't do that and make a game of it early.

Boise shut them down last year. On the scoreboard at least, not sure what the stats were.
