How do you let

Oh, boy, I love all the defeatist attitudes on here. nice. Play to win Cromp just made a huge 1st down. 40+ on the clock and you try to run, then you spike it with 4. I didn't like that at all. bad, bad, bad.

So, if we throw a couple more times and gain 10 yards, how does that help us not kick it straight into Cody? The decision was the right one for kicking there. We were committing penalties on that side of the field the whole game. Kiffin gave us the best chance to win, and Lincoln blew it. Bottom Line.

i wouldn't have minded seeing hardesty run it up the middle once, but you can't coach in fear of a block. the kicker has to make a play.

To avoid any one of a number of situations...you're already in field goal range you run another play and anything could happen: hit in the backfield, holding penalty, fumble, whatever I agree with it when you have a chance to win don't take a chance to take away that chance.

I would also add that with no time outs you run a risk of not having enough time to get your FG team on the field.

All that time run off the clock and try and let Lincoln win the game?
Remember earlier in the game when we were on the edge of being in field goal range and crompton got sacked taking us way out of field goal range? There if we run another play we run the risk of a sack taking up out of range meaning we have to throw it up for grabs in the end zone or theres always that risk of a turnover and we dont get a shot at anything. The coaches did the right thing here. Its always easy to watch on tv and then second guess.

I would have liked to have seen another play or 2 run before the kick, but you have to be able to execute a 44 yrd FG. Plain and simple. No reason, No excuse.

If you give me that scenario before the game, I take it.

Maybe not now, but......

LOL, how do you know he's only going to pick up 10 yards. Some silly people on here.

we were down two. field goals are worth 3. that imo is playing to win. dont be stupid. a sack could put us out of fg range, a pick could end the game, or bad clock management could run the clock out. the field goal was the best option, and it just didnt work out.

I'm with whoever voted on a run play. A quick-hitter does not risk losing much, if any, ground...and may have caught them looking for a pass and squirted for 5-10 yards. With Lincoln's dainty leg, that may have allowed him to kick with more of a launch angle.

Take a shot, spike it on 3rd, and kick from (hopefully) 40 yards or in.

Who was to blame for allowing someone through the line twice? Fool me once, Sullins, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I have a feeling neither of the Sullins' spots are safe for the rest of the season.

ingram just showed the drive before that simple run plays are even risky...

Kiffin had no timeouts and a QB he doesn't trust. If he played aggressively to get the ball closer, he ran a serious risk of competing a pass in the middle of the field, but not being able to get set up in time to spike the ball and stop the clock to get a FG off. The worst thing that can happen there is that you don't even get to kick at all. No problem with the way he played it there.

How do you know there wasn't going to be a fumble, penalty ect. you know the only way to 100% prevent any of that from happening is by kicking it from there.

First, Lincoln should have made the kick.

Second, I do not have a problem with the way Kiffin played it, however, he MUST have been a little flustered with the clock dwindling down and not running SOME KIND of play to get us a little closer. A kicker's psyche is a delicate thing, and surely Lincoln would have been better from closer in. Again, I DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE WAY KIFFIN PLAYED IT, WE SHOULD HAVE WON.

Third, it will be absolutely nauseating to see how much credit CODY gets for "blocking two field goals" in this game. I could have blocked those kicks, we kicked it straight into his facemask.

Fourth, Nice Job Vols. Seriously, that is an excellent football team and we should have won the game. We beat them in all phases except for the one that matters.....the scoreboard.

GOOD THINGS TO COME FOR TENN FOOTBALL

p.s. Nice Game Jonathan. I'm very impressed considering what the Bama defense has done to QBs this season.
p.s.s. We run the table the rest of the year.
