How do you feel now vs February?

The main issues still remain. A few months did not eliminate those questions

No proven pass rush to speak of
Not enough speed or high end talent on defense
Having to spend time with remedial coaching due to prior staff's incompetence at certain spots. Instead of giving the team reps with new scheme, our coaches will have to spend time teaching our OL how to line up, how to cover a slant, how to line up on defense, etc.
Switching from outdated schemes (which Pruitt recruited towards) to more modern "playing in space" football
Losing talented players to the portal

This isn't going to be an easy or quick fix. What we can hope for is the team addresses its weaknesses, looks properly prepared/coached this year and they buy in fully. We can't see the crap we saw during the WVU game or the constant meltdowns at beginning and end of halves, no OL improvement, no QB improvement, and a team that checked out at the end of the season. That will be the ultimate sign of success this year.

It's this time of season when you hope for the best, yet fear the worst.

Will the offense really be better this year? Yet I fear our time of possession will be low!

Can our defense stop SEC type teams? Will the offense keep the defense off the field? I hope so, but I fear not!

I am hoping by mid season this will be a really good team, but ,,,,,,

I'll still be happy if we go 6-6 this year. You can definitely make an argument for 8-4 due to our schedule but with zero proof that we will have solid QB play, 6-6 would be a good start for year 1 for CJH.

Verse?
Did you mean versus February, OP?
When it comes to verse, I like Robert Frost, Edgar Allan Poe, T.S. Eliot, Emily Dickinson, e.e. cummings, Langston Hughes, Allen Ginsburg and a host of others. As to February; I can barely remember last week much less 6 months ago.

Like asking after the swipe right but before the first date. "How is she?" "How the hell should I know?" "She looked good in the photo." "They ALL look good in the photo."

Huh? Maybe this is why I haven't had a date in six years since my wife passed--I must not know how it's done these days!

Do online dating services provide a gift card that contains all the potential matches in your area, that you then swipe across a magnetic reader to access a date?

Is "swipe right" like a play call you execute in a bar, maybe with a wingman?

I hope that wasn't a typo and you meant to say "swap"... I don't wanna be makin' that scene just to go out on a date!

Regarding the team, since February...

I feel better about the locker room, the program culture, our roster (a little, due to improvements through the transfer portal), the QB position (that we have some players in the mix who were chosen for this offense), and the assistant coaches.

Six to ten months later (don't want to judge anybody's math) do I know a single thing more about how we will perform against anybody on the field, including Bowling Green?

I don't know a darn thing. And I hope I can remain aware of that, because everything else going down in the world is going to make me feel desperate to anticipate something good happening.

You still way down & not excited or do you have a positive outlook & excitement?

I feel positive the offense will continue to improve until they get on the field with a team intent on beating UT; it will demonstrate what Heupel is trying to install. Sports media has overlooked the fact that UT does have elite players on the field, and if this coaching staff can install and the players can execute, there might be some exciting moments. This team could, I said could provide some interesting games. But, their effort and execution will have to be in place.

Regardless, I am a UT fan, and I will cheer for the O&W every Saturday.

No different today than any other day. It depends on the team that shows up on game day, how well they have prepared, how well they are coached during the game.......And if they are hungry for a win or playing to win. Otherwise......It will just be the same old show with the same results. IF we see the change and improvement.....Then I'm going to get fired up again.......Just not had any reasons to during these last 15 years.

I'm not judging the coaches, I'm not judging the players I just want to see some damn football...I want no more drama...My god this has been a sh*t show for too long...Let coach do his job and leave them alone and lets hope for the best...I like our new coach but most of all I love that the players like him and want to play for him...We are going to lose some games so if any of you are gonna jump ship when we do go ahead and get it out of the way so we don't have to deal with your announced departure....It's not needed...Just go....And GO VOLS!!!
