How do you feel about Teague now?

They are leaving the CB's on an island trying to stop the run, unless you are an All-SEC caliber player, you're going to get burnt from time to time.

This. CJW was just picking a poison. With LSU, I would have chosen the "make the QBs arm beat us" too. Defensively it was enough in the 1st half. The second showed where we are physically against the best teams.

BTW, I'm not so sure Waggner was moved to corner to keep LSU runners from breaking him into splinters. He was laying the wood, but those guys are just beasts and he's too small for safety. Was nicked up more than once trying to run stop.

Cincinnait is known to have a good passing attack. However, I still say the speed and level of the WRs on Cincy don't compare to the speed and level of WRs in the SEC. Say what you want about his performance in the Cincy game. Honestly, it must have been sound. Because I didn't notice him getting beat repeatedly. The point is. MT isn't getting it done against SEC WRs. UT is in the SEC. We need players who can get it done against SEC competition!

Corner is a lot about confidence and I think the UGA game may have done something to his. He was cautious and giving a lot of cushion last night. The free slant for the touchdown was about as bad as the angle he took on the big play. He has to figure it out because he was fine the first four games including Cincy who has two receivers better than any on LSU and Florida who may not be that good after all. He will get a test against Jeffrey. I assume Spurrier will be trying to get him the ball a lot.

I think this has more to do with our focus on making every team we play beat us through the air. Joseph has stated before that the only reason Moore isn't out on the field is because of his tackling. Eric Gordon can lay the wood, but he's not a great tackler, either. I think because of youth and inexperience, the secondary is being molded to help us make sure the big plays don't come in the running game like they did last year. Of course, when the offense is on the sidelines all day, that's a moot point.

So, you know better than Rivals. I don't think so. If Teague runs a 4.4 or better. His alignments, angles, and cover skills must be terrible. Because the Georgia WRs ran by him most of the game. Teague got burned for two other potential TDs. But, Murray didn't make the throws.

Do you not realize that a CB has to react to the WR and might look slower than he really is?

Teague has been disappointing this year but acting like you can definitively determine how fast he is based on his coverage is ridiculous.

Guess what? Guys who run a 4.4 will routinely get beaten by a step when going against guys who run a 4.3(Malcolm Mitchell).

On a side note, I have been very unimpressed with Brewer this year. He hasn't made any plays in the passing game and has looked less physical in run support.

He has to be better than Zach Rogers

I recall during fall practice of Teague's freshman year, the staff at that time said he would be an all conference receiver before he left UT. Now, he is no Justin Hunter or Da'Rick Rogers but in the slot position, I think he would have been a significant upgrade over what we have playing the position today.

Many of you were saying how great Teague was last year. Many of you were saying he would be the best corner this year. It must have been because he is from Paris. I didn't see what I lot of you saw in Teague last year.
I told you guys Teague isn't a good defender. He was one of the worst last year, probably the worst this year. He gets toasted weekly!!! Will many of you admit you were wrong about Teague?

Here is a link to last years thread:

http://www.volnation.com/forum/tennessee-vols-football/122403-marsalis-teague.html

teague was a quarterback in high school...made the switch to help the team...and that one missed tackle against lsu didnt cost the ballgame...why dont you suit up and try to do better?

Because all of the scores were on Waggner in the 2nd half?

Teague sucks at CB.

he is there because he was asked by the staff to move ..im sure he would rather be a receiver. how good were you in college?

A simple quick-out to the sideline, designed to get 5-6 yards - the receiver was probably just as shocked as everyone else that our cb took a knee (two, actually) - giving him an open lane down the sideline.

Seriously - any cb that can't make that play has to be a least a little bit suspect.

You guys are dumb.. He's had 2 big plays on him in 2 games.. in the GA game he got beat on a Post route with Man on Man Coverage because the safety bit on the run.. Most any CB is gonna get beat on a play like that.. You could prob ask any DB in the Nation if they liked those odds and they would say NO. I don't know what game you guys were watching but Lanier wasn't playing lights out either.. He's not playing as well as everyone has expected him to IMO.. Teague has speed.. If you don't believe it.. watch the GA game and see how fast he recovered after the catch to make the tackle on the 20.. He made one bad angle in the LSU game but I don't think that he deserves to be torched by Volnation on 2 plays that didn't have anything to do with us winning or losing those games.. Plenty of other things we could of done to win those games..

Teague got burnt multiple times during the Georgia game too. Good thing Murray didnt't connect with his wide out for 2 out of the 3 plays.

You shouldn't be blaming teague for getting burnt on DEEP POST ROUTES.. How many DB's in the Nation do you know of that can have perfect coverage 100% of the time when it's MAN ON MAN... just a dumb argument.. Why do you think Peyton make so many plays when he recognizes Man Coverage.. He knows it's a weakness.. If you blame someone you can blame Wilcox if anyone... He shouldn't be playing our Safety's up so much on the run.. Why is he doing that?? BC our front 7 can't stop the run or get pressure on the QB..

This thread reminds me of how the volnation experts declared Arian Foster a bust.

He's having his "how do you like me now" time. So will Teague........ he's talented, fast and plenty capable. So are the rest of the players that many who post here see as not fit for the SEC. Grow up and support this team.

Let's move Zach to corner & Teague back to receiver.

What about bringing back Anthony Anderson to cb, or Naz Oliver? Just a few months ago Anderson was listed as a starting cb, and he has intercepted the ball before. I don't see him getting any p.t. as a receiver despite their strong implications that that was going to happen. ???

Anthony Andersaon and Naz Oliver were moved because they were not good enough to compete for playing time at CB.

But the main thing, like others here, I would be for moving PWagg back to cb. Also might give Gordon another chance at the other cb, or Coleman. Tell Randolph and Brewer they are gonna have to get it done at safety, with Wilks, Moore and Sapp to back em up. I know that doesn't sound pretty, but none of our options look real good right now.

He had a bad game.

He was great against Florida

No he wasn't great against Florida. He still was allowing plays to the edge. He made a nice play in the end zone but really and truly how good are Florida's WRs? Teague is a liability for us. He maybe our worst defensive player starting.

Ha you haven't been paying attention obviously.. He's had a couple of bad plays this last 2 games and you jump all over him saying he's the worst player on D?? Yeah lets put Art Evens in there and see how much better he does against Bama... Don't blame the player.. Blame the Coaching..

Teague may have lost his starting job according to Dooley's press conference this morning.

Let's not forget key pass interference penalties.
