  • The Sports Media will say the SEC and especially the SEC East was really weak in 2018

  • The Sports Media will ignore Tennessee because their predictions were badly wrong

  • The Sports Media will say Tennessee could have done even better if they had hired Greg Schiano

I think they would ignore it and say they knew they would do that good. And Murray will come out and apologize to Pruitt esp after he beats the dogs ( pipe dream)

The media isn't the enemy. They just provide the coverage that gets them viewers and money. Capitalism, yo. Accuracy tends to have a good long term payoff.

I think a middle of the road result is not sensational, but will appeal to long-suffering vol fans, so will get covered as a great turnaround, moving in the right direction, look forward to next year. Also sounds accurate for a 7-8 win season.

Sports Media expectations for Tennessee are so low for the forthcoming season, 7 or 8 wins by the Vols will elicit grudgingly given credit to the coaching staff. If the breaks had something to do with Tennessee's victory total, the hacks will play these up, giving them more time than the Vols' extraordinary plays or the coaches' play calling. Expect plenty of blather about opponents' bone-headed plays which presented the Vols opportunities to score and/or change the momentum. Expect inane repetition of how {opponent] gave the game away - "Really and truly, [opponent] lost the game more than the Vols won it, but Pruitt and Tennessee will gladly take another one in the win column." "Tennessee has been having a charmed season, with [opponent] practically handing them a victory and that game-changing play against [opponent]... What was that? Who cares? Right? Tennessee will take it." "The Vols have been lucky, very lucky so far this season. Pruitt and his staff will take luck and build upon it. Yes, next year, Tennessee may even have a team that can win [X] or [Y] the hard way." "Lucky, yes. Pruitt and his staff have done a great job with these kids, but, at this point, the breaks have as much to do with their record as anything."

I'm thinking 6 is the number, but I would definitely be okay with this bet. I think 7 is very possible.

So, a few things about this bet:

1. T-Town, if you're gonna "proudly display" a Bama avatar chosen for you, you need to rethink your priorities. Now, if you're gonna shamefully display it because you lost the bet, that's a lot better. :)

2. T-Town wins the bet if the Vols win 5 or less. Checkerboards win the bet if the Vols win 7 or more in the regular season. Who gets the win if we go 6-6? Early on, T-Town, you were saying people would be crazy to bet on us winning more than 5. So you gonna give 6-6 to Checkerboards as well? Or insist on 7 wins or better for his side?
