How do we know Gruden could recruit at the level he would need to?

What do we have to make us think this would be the case? Sure he has won a Super Bowl and been successful in the NFL. Why is it guaranteed that he would be such a great recruiter and keep up with the rest of the SEC? What is his college coaching experience outside of being a GA?

BTW, I have added a link to his coaching history here and he should have a couple of years of recruiting experience under his belt.

"Sure he has won a Super Bowl"

That's a start...or he could just pull out a knife and go full-chucky on them.

I have no doubt that Gruden will be a top notch recruiter. I do doubt that he will be the head football coach of Tennessee.

I'm 20, and I know a few years ago as a junior in high school.. If Gruden walked into my house, I would instantly give him a lot more credibility than most other coaches that walk through the door..

He would be one of those type home-run hires that would give us instant media attention and buzz, and recruits would listen to whatever he has to sell. JMO.

Anyone who's seen his interactions with the players in his QB camp show could answer this question.

You are right, that is a start. Honestly recruiting is the only thing that scares me with Gruden. If he can recruit I am all for him coming to be the next coach.

What makes you think that he couldn't? He has something that even saban doesn't have. A superbowl ring as a head coach.

All the diverse theories are interesting because I am totally opposite. I feel like his recruiting power would be his biggest asset in Knoxville.

How do we know that birds can fly? Come on dude, that is one thing that we will not have to worry about, kids will love to play for him...if he would want to come to TN. Check it out we have the #1 recruiting budget in the nation and new facilities and Gruden, yeah i think he will do just fine.

Is bringing the family a twelve pack of Corona and autographing the boobies of a recruit's mom an NCAA violation?

No doubt the man could recruit. He is a household name that everyone has heard of and seen on TV. Plus I'm sure he could hire a top notch staff that could recruit, so recruiting isnt even remotely a concert. How many Mom's would say no to him. He's a nice looking, personable guy and Dads would definitely know who he is. Recruiting would go to the next level under him.

He can recruit because he knows what it takes to get to the next level. Number 2 he will get a lot of experience people in here as assistants.

You could not expect him to get the 10th rated class in the SEC like dooley has going but maybe he could convince some 2* talent to come here.

I have not seen his interactions at his QB camp. Why don't you tell us more about it?

I think questioning his ability to recruit is fair since he has little college coaching experience.

Here is a link to his full coaching history:
Jon Gruden Record, Statistics, and Category Ranks - Pro-Football-Reference.com

1986 College University of Tennessee Graduate Assistant
1987 College University of Tennessee Graduate Assistant
1988 College Southeast Missouri State Passing Game Coordinator
1989 College University of Pacific Wide Receivers
1991 College University of Pittsburgh Wide Receivers

He has 5 years around college football. He would have definitely recruited the 2 years he was WR coach. I am not sure about the other years.

Where do you get this from? He won his first year at Tampa & got worse. He left the raiders & they went to Super Bowl.
