Dad got his PhD in geology at UTK. He was teaching some classes as well and brought me in one day when I was too sick to go to school. He sat me by Al Wilson and the big guy joked around with me during class..... after that I was a Vol for life!

That's awesome!!
The great thing in living near Little Rock is the fact that I see some of the players from the 1998 team come to Verizon Arena for concerts. I work on the security team as a side job and got to thank Clint Stoerner personally for fumbling that ball. He was with a friend of mine and we started talking. Good thing he was drunk and probably didn't understand a word I said. Lol. It was all in good fun.

I remember watching UT/Penn State games in the early 70's, listening to John Ward call the Ernie & Bernie show. Going to UT was not a hard decision...

My parents met at UT. I was born on campus... My first memories are of sitting beside Dad watching the late 70's Vols - Jimmy Streater, Roland James, etc.

I'm interested to know how people here became Vols fans. For me personally i came to the homecoming game in 97 when we played a ranked Wash St team. I hated UGA growing up in Atl. I met a beautiful coed with a pure white bulldog on the way to the game. This bulldog had a cape that said "UGA is white trash" and that makde up mind I was UT bound next near. How bout you guys?

Guess you could say I was born a VOL fan! My dad always pulled for them and my uncle went to school there and I'm from TN so all my life. GO VOLS!!!

Luv your avatar by the way :good!:

Raised in Canada, and could have cared less about College Football. Came to school on a golf Scholarship in Rome Georgia, had a buddy on the team who had an extra ticket for the 2005 home opener against UAB. I came up with him and left bleeding Orange.....

It doesn't seem like theirs to many of us Vols fans that were born in the 50's that can use a computer:banghead2: The first I can remember was in the mid 60's with dad, my uncles and family friends sitting around the BLACK and WHITE TV yelling for The Tennessee VOLS. Who knew they had Orange on.:) I didn't even know who the other teams were. Still not important. I do remember one of dads friends like al-a:eek:lol:bama but they were friends before he went to the darkside.
I was born and raised in the Greater State Of TENNESSEE and Damn Proud of it.
GO VOLS! Kick some SEC a$$!!

Ever see a Swamp Rat with a fishing plug in it's bottom lip. lol

I got bit by a leach once in British Columbia when I was a kid. The anti-coagulant in its saliva actually caused the wound it left upon removal to bleed orange. It was only natural for me to become a vol fan.

True story (mostly).

Ya know, I was born n raised in TN and Dad was always a Big Orange fan but even when I went to UT I was only lukewarm about it, distracted by other things.

But as a young man in my 20s I travelled to other states with the idea of moving out west ... and I looked around and said, I'm just not one of these people, I'm proud to be a Tennesseean and I'm going home. Then I got serious about following the Vols.

Was born in Nashville so I was, I hate to say a Vandy fan. Moved to west Tennessee and got to see the Vols play Minnesota in Memphis in the liberty bowl in 87 or 88. I hung out with some Vol fans while watching the game. I have been a Vol for over 20 years now. So it's not to late for you Gator,Bama,Wildcat, hogs,Bulldogs,Tigers etc....... To see the light and change your ways.

my family moved to chattanooga in 1992 and my parents were not football people. as i grew up i started to play and love the game, and i also discovered that i had a somewhat natural born hatred for alabama fans. as i went into middle and high school i had a close friend who had season tickets and he asked if i wanted to go. the first time i stepped into neyland i was officially hooked. after i graduated high school i found myself back out west going to school and was surrounded by penn state and ohio state fans and that is the defining moment of feeling the need to represent. represent i did and let's just say that when they aren't cheering for their respective teams they are vol fans. i never went to utk, but i certainly feel that i am a part of it all. i wear orange several times a week wether it is clean or dirty. i will always love the vols.

1989 Auburn at home I was in the 7th grade and it was an absolute downpour . Dad asked me to tape the game because he had to work . Auburn was 5th in the country Tenn was 20 something 21 I think . Reggie Cobb and Chuck Webb exploded for 200+ yds and Auburn botched long snap after long snap on punts and the guy on CBS said " The volunteers are back !! " after they won 21-14 . Hooked for life then and there . Have never seen that game on tape or dvd but would love to have it .

My grandfather (my avatar pic) played for UT from 1944-47. He had season tickets, so he took me to games during the fall whenever my family was able to get up to Knoxville. I remember seeing UT clinch the SEC in '85. Awesome....

Born a Vol Fan! My mamaw and papaw, they raised me, have told me stories that when I was 3 or 4 I would sit and watch football and they had 2 lie 2 me and tell me Tennessee was playing, even if they were not, and winning or I would get mad and throw a fit :) I still remember Tony Robinson throwing a long touchdown pass against Alahambra but was too young 2 remember the score and why he didn't finish playing @ UT. I sing Rocky Top to my baby boy, Koen 8months, to get him calmed down:) will always b a Volunteer and will disown him if he isn't lol.

Well for me, I just took after Keith Richards with the full blood transfusion.
Worked like a charm. How many of your friends prick their fingers and citrus juice pours out?
