How did we win 7 straight?

We ended last year strong, had some hype, were ranked. My South Carolina friends were jealous of how Pruitt “turned our program around.” At halftime, my Georgia friends were actually a little nervous. Then suddenly a turd floated to the top of the punch bowl. Missouri punched us in the ovary. Kentucky jumped on us like a hobo on a ham sandwich.
It might be the acid, but I’m pretty sure we had won seven straight. How in the world did that happen?
Nahhhh...just kidding.

The only thing that even remotely resembles a decent win in Pruitt's entire UT tenure was the Auburn win in his first year. He's done nothing but beat up terrible teams (and also get beat up by terrible teams) while Florida, Georgia and Bama show up to compete every single week, no matter the opponent.

I stand 100% by my statement. His win streak was utter garbage and an embarrassment to gloat about.
Indiana says hello! Garbage? Okie doke

Dang it, OP, every team we beat is trash! How do we know? Because we beat them! And we're trash! Remember?!? So if we beat them, they're total trash. We never beat ANYONE good>!?!LK@#J! The Butch years when we beat Florida and Georgia? They were trash, too!!!!!!

[if you listen enough to the FL/UGa/Bama fans here, the trolls and Nega-doofuses, you'll come to think this way, as well. Avoid the brain damage, don't listen to them]
But we should listen to the Pruitt slurpers?

Oh bc you agree therefore they're correct?

Stupid post is stupid

If you remember, we barely won a few of those and it wasn't against the elite part of the SEC schedule. Biggest win by far in my mind was Indiana, after seeing how they are playing now.

YEAH GARBAGE. A basketball school. They got a good QB that should be our QB otherwise they would be lost in Big 10 obscurity. We should have beat them by 50 points in the bowl game but we nearly lost.

Sorry, I've lived long enough to know Indiana will always be garbage. Sometimes the garbage stinks less than other times. But always garbage.

Clearly beating Indiana turned out to be a good win...based on the only metric we have as they are 6-1 and lost by a touchdown this year to Ohio St....its hard to have it both ways but it makes boards like this fun!

Indiana this year doesn't equate to Indiana last year. Just like Tennessee this year doesn't equate to Tennessee last year.

Leadership on the field. No one rose up to take JJ's place. If you don't have leaders on the field, even the best of the best in coaching will suffer.

I think that is the main point here. Chaney said we don't have "fire breathing dragons" and he is right. The leaders on offense (Eric Gray, any of the QBs, Trey Smith, Palmer) aren't highly outspoken guys. In fact, they are pretty quiet outside of Trey.

Also losing Darrell Taylor (elite pass rusher) and Bituli (leader, and very good player) hurt the defense significantly. Banks and Crouch can't replace what Bituli gave us. Kivon and Johnson (both in the top 10 in sacks for the SEC), but they aren't guys you have to double team.

Yep. There's no Al Wilson on O or D.

Indiana, Kentucky and Auburn as his 3 decent wins while here.

Indiana was rapidly improving when we beat them, and though they dominated the game, we still managed to take advantage of their late game mistakes and win. The Auburn team ended up average. Kentucky was as good as they get, but usually they play as badly against us as we do against Florida or Alabama, regardless of record. That's what made this year so jarring, because UK is bad.

Pruitt's wins are vs the following in the SEC.

Auburn - coach has been fired.
Miss State - coach has been fired.
Vandy - coach has been fired.
South Carolina - coach has been fired.
Missouri - coach has been fired.
Missouri - first year coach, using fired coach's roster with virtually no practice time coming into early season.
Kentucky - too busy with basketball to care that their offense is the worst it's ever been.

It was the last 4 games on our schedule which is always the easiest portion along with a bowl game amd the first 2 this year.
We was 4th in the sec and after 1-4 start it was impressive and the Mizzou win this year looked good and the first half against Georgia looked good then something happened that's what I want to know do know a coach was fired.

Good coaching and players staying committed is why we won those 8 straight regardless of who the opponents were.

Sorry, but I'm not buying. They may have always been a basketball school and lack facilities that other schools have, but they have a complete team this year and much more than just a quarterback. Their defense is one of the best, and Ty Fryfogle putting up 218 receiving yards against Ohio State is no slouch.

Indiana has not gotten the high profile players in years past, but they are starting to get a few here and there. Tom Allen is the real deal. If Pruitt were to ever leave or get fired, Tom Allen would be an excellent hire. As long as Tom Allen is there, they will not be garbage.
