I'm just looking at all the threads and post and I'm trying to wrap my mind around our program and butch who I'm doubting but hopeing a switch flips bc one of my favorite game under his tenure was the first game vs Ga and ga was far more talented but butchers team played there heart out and almost won and I thought wow he is a good coach , so what's happend to the coach that was a drive away from beating saben! I hang up and listen ! Go Vols

The longer he coaches these players the worse they get, plus Bama was on a 8 game gauntlet I believe

This. We played them right before their bye week. They were just worn down. The next year they didn't play us before their bye week and they beat us like we stole something.

We played more consistent. We had lower rated players that worked more to get better.

Bama was catching us after a long stretch right before their bye. They were tired. That's why we looked so strong that game.

So I know several people who work in our UAA. As you know, a good portion of our football staff comes from the Alabama program (not just on-the-field coaches, but I'm talking about back office staff, too). McElwain's son, for instance, continues to work in Alabama's recruiting offices to this day. There's lots of crossover between our two programs right now.

Anyhow, I was chatting with one of my UAA friends last year after the SECCG and lamenting our offensive struggles. He was like, "Be patient. Even the Alabama guys have said Mac's system is their 2nd toughest to prepare for...he just doesn't have a QB." I asked, "Who is the most difficult for them?", thinking they would have said Urban's or Dabo's. Imagine my surprise when he said, "Butch Jones." I was like, "Huh?" And he said, "Yeah, apparently Saban has their defensive analysts (these are largely back-office, off-the-field staff) do these things called 'chart sessions' for each opponent, and Butch's offense requires double the amount of chart sessions to prepare for his system..." He said they have to allot extra time for the prep during their scheduling for that game week and it's a real pain.

So, take it for what's worth, but just something to think about. The guy who can be the biggest thorn in Saban's side may already be standing on UT's sideline.

Maybe with dobbs. No one is going above and beyond for this offense with dormady at the helm.

Cause we have the talent. We just have terrible coaching. Which is why we're inconsistent.

Talent has nothing to do with year one and two of Butchs tenure because we didn't have it. I see people list this Ga game, the close AL game, the OU game. These are games we weren't suppose to be in that the coaches turned in to coin flip games. How can anybody be mad about losing those? We were suppose to get blown out.
