How can Tennessee not receive a #1 seed?

Why are people on here getting themselves all tied into knots over the jibberish this sawed-off snake-oil salesman peddles. It's all just pure speculation and the fact that all of you are allowing yourselves to be so upset over stuff that can't even be proven is pathetic. And in the meantime, "Joey Brackets" is laughing all the way to the bank because everyone is talking about him.

The Kansas game screwed us over. We needed KS to win their conference. It makes our loss a bad loss now.
People are missing the real reason.
The brackets get released right after the SEC championship game. We are one of last games left. Michigan vs Michigan st. Whoever wins that is a lock for 2 seed
Most likely the committee will have the brackets done by midnight tonight.
They might have 2 scenarios where TN is either 1 or 2 seed, but I doubt that.
TN being a 2 seed is the safer bet. I really hope I’m wrong
This is not true; the BIG 10 championship game doesn't start until 3:30. The selection show is at 6.

This is just wrong on many counts

I think there will be a 1 v 2 seed scenario for TN tomorrow. They will be on the line of the 4th 1 or the 1st 2 based on Tom. Reversed with either UNC or Gonzaga. Committee does this a lot. Same bracket, just a diff between 1 or 2.

Joe Lunardi is nuts! He had Kentucky as solid one seed and Tennessee a #2. VOLS win and no #1 seed...even after we already defeated Kentucky twice plus Gonzaga. Give me a break!!
Beat the snot out of Auburn!

I think we're the #3 overall seed now and will jump Va for the 2 spot with a big lead at the end of the 1st half.

I dont see regardless of quality wins how Michigan St with their bad losses can be considered for a 1 seed. My biggest complaint though will be if we win tomorrow and ACC gets 3 #1s and if we get 1 out west or any variety of 2.

Lunardi had State over us even after we beat UK is why I say that. I don’t agree obviously, but that’s what he feels the committee wants

Funny how the talking heads give Dook a pass for their losses without Zion What's His Name, but TN's loss versus Kansas doesn't factor in that they were at full strength. Kansas is a different team today. They were much better 4 months ago.

People in this thread complaining about Lunardi seem to be confused.

His braketology isn’t primarily based on his personal opinion. It’s partially based on his knowledge of the selection committee members, their biases and motivations etc..

Yes, but the SEC deal ends sooner and is shorter in duration, for one. That renegotiation will come in the nearer future, whereas the ACC deal runs until 2036. Not to mention the SEC's strength is in college football, rather than basketball, whereas the markets on the Atlantic are big for college basketball. In a revenue game built on controlling eyeballs and then selling time to show ads to those eyeballs, ESPN has a vested interest in hyping and pushing UNC, Duke, et al., to the moon. And as I understand it, they actively pursue and push their networks to hype the big products. Do they push the SEC as well? Sure. Kentucky mainly, but that's because of their footprint and reach. But with Zion Williamson and Duke being the biggest bestest most special and amazing program in college basketball, they'll always show preference for that program and that player.
You are one smart sounding dumba$$. Virginia was locked into a 1 seed before conference tournaments even started. Duke has been the best team in the country all year when Zion is healthy with a hell of a resume and UNC has played a tougher schedule than Tennessee, beaten way more ranked teams, played more top 10 teams and was co champions of a tougher conference than Tennessee. So if ESPN has 3 ACC teams as 1 seeds over Tennessee I doubt its because of that BS you're spewing out about.

We beat Gonzaga head to head. We beat Kentucky twice and Louisville. UNC lost to Kentucky and Louisville. Michigan St lost to Louisville. Michigan lost twice to Michigan St. not to mention Michigan St lost to Illinois and twice to Indiana. If you want to give Duke the benefit of the doubt for games they lost without Zion then you have to discredit any teams which beat them without him - UNC twice. Additionally every one of these teams have significantly worse losses than Tennessee has. There’s not a reasonably arugument which would put Tennessee anywhere other than the 1 line. Not one.

It's sad to see that so many in the media disregard blueblood defeat and compound that with the refs giving bluebloods preferential treatment in games. It's getting fragrant.

If it comes down to being the #2 seed in the Louisville bracket instead of the #1 in the West give me the #2 in the South all day. I don’t understand how this is so hard to understand. Being a 1 seed in Anaheim adds zero advantage . Getting through to the sweet 16 in Louisville as a #2 seed is much more advantageous.

Add CBS Sports to the insane list. They actually think that having 3 ACC teams in the one seeds is locked in and can’t be debated. They did say that Tennessee could take the zags spot with a win tomorrow, but did it hesitantly.

This is a tough year.

To me, 5 teams can be talked about for that #1 seed.

Duke, UVA, UNC, Gonzaga, and Tennessee.

Duke is a lock, UVA too.

UNC is 27-6
Gonzaga is 30-3
Tenn is 29-4

UNCs big argument is that they beat Duke twice (w/o Zion)

Gonzaga's is that they had only 3 losses, all to fairly good teams.

Tennessee's would be the same case plus power wins.

If Tenn loses tomorrow, they aren't getting a 1.

If Tenn win, the 2 biggest metrics NET+Quad:

Tennessee would be ahead of UNC and behind Gonzaga.

Quad 1 games for each would be
Gonzaga- 4-3
Tenn- 10-4
UNC- 10-6

Head to Head
Tenn 1-0
UNC 1-0
Gonz- 0-2

To me, Gonzaga should not be a 1. I would also place Tenn above UNC for the 3rd overall seed.

Gonzaga is a lock for either the 1 or 2 seed in the West.
It’s quite possible because of that situation they move TN to number 3 overall
