How can Tennessee not receive a #1 seed?

Bottom line is you have to win the games in front of you. Nothing else matters

It is not that simple. If you had Carolina's schedule you wouldn't be flashing that same record. Tennessee is a great team. 1 seed worthy but you went 2 months in the middle of the season without playing anybody.
I’m specifically talking about UK.

If we win tomorrow and Michigan wins it is a lock IMO.

If that specific sequence does not occur, who knows what the committee does.
Definitely not a lock. I'm not saying Tennessee wouldn't deserve it or wouldn't get it. I am saying it's not a lock. It would be Tennessee, Gonzaga and UNC all with possibilities to get the 1 seeds

I said pregame if UT or UK won the tournament they had earned a 1 having to beat the other and break the tie to get there.

JL waa trying to explain how gonzaga should still be a one seed.

He sounded stupid, like he was looking for any reason not to give it to Tennessee

If UT wins tomorrow, and do not get a #1 seed, then the seeding system is complete crap. If we lose, we will be a #2 seed. I feel pretty certain of that. But, this team wants an SEC Tournament Title!!

Joe Lunardi is nuts! He had Kentucky as solid one seed and Tennessee a #2. VOLS win and no #1 seed...even after we already defeated Kentucky twice plus Gonzaga. Give me a break!![/QUOTE

You are correct. But didn’t Ky beat Kansas & UNC?

Kentucky beat Kansas and UNC and lost badly to Duke (and Seton hall? Alabama??) . We beat them twice and Gonzaga.

So my opinion is that UNC and UT will be in same bracket. If Vols win tom, 1. If lose, 2 and UNC the 1.[/QUOTE

That would be a dream come true for me. Each time we played UNC, they barely beat us. They are NOT better than us. Redemintion time

What about the ones on here that were saying how bad Turner was how the Vols would never see another SEC Tournament Championship game
Biggest shot he has hit in his career. It reminds me of the shot he hit against Purdue but that was not in the postseason.

The Kansas game screwed us over. We needed KS to win their conference. It makes our loss a bad loss now.
People are missing the real reason.
The brackets get released right after the SEC championship game. We are one of last games left. Michigan vs Michigan st. Whoever wins that is a lock for 2 seed
Most likely the committee will have the brackets done by midnight tonight.
They might have 2 scenarios where TN is either 1 or 2 seed, but I doubt that.
TN being a 2 seed is the safer bet. I really hope I’m wrong

I've said it before and I'll say it again. ESPN has an investment in the ACC due to their long-term deal with the conference for media rights. They are going to push the ACC every chance they get, and they are going to push Zion Williamson to the heights of the heavens. They are biased for the ACC, and they will continue to be biased for the ACC. The more people talk and care about Duke, UNC, and Zion Williamson, the more money they make. It's that simple.

You do know that ESPN broadcasts the SEC network?

Is there a projected #1 seed that hasn’t lost in the last couple of days outside of duke?

If JL is guessing right, it really doesn't matter. Out to the west region regardless which means it's only uniform color in the Elite Eight if both get there.

Jay Bilas just said that no way should KY slip out of a 1 seed because they just lost this 1 game. WTH?!?
Guarantee you they try to say the same thing about Duke if they lose tonight. If that's the case then why even play these conference tournaments?

You do know that ESPN broadcasts the SEC network?

Yes, but the SEC deal ends sooner and is shorter in duration, for one. That renegotiation will come in the nearer future, whereas the ACC deal runs until 2036. Not to mention the SEC's strength is in college football, rather than basketball, whereas the markets on the Atlantic are big for college basketball. In a revenue game built on controlling eyeballs and then selling time to show ads to those eyeballs, ESPN has a vested interest in hyping and pushing UNC, Duke, et al., to the moon. And as I understand it, they actively pursue and push their networks to hype the big products. Do they push the SEC as well? Sure. Kentucky mainly, but that's because of their footprint and reach. But with Zion Williamson and Duke being the biggest bestest most special and amazing program in college basketball, they'll always show preference for that program and that player.
