How can she not step down?

The absolute hardest part of this year for your fans is...Tennessee by far, had more talent on it's roster than any team in the SEC....I would venture to say that the majority of WBB coaches could have won the SEC with this team. I am baffled by it.

I suspected that the team would struggle this year against the better teams because of their lack of post presence. I thought that was the big gap, but that the talent of Westbrook and Davis would allow them to beat the rest of the teams outside of the top 10-15 teams. Even when they lost to Stanford, I was surprised at how much better they were than I was expecting. Balanced offense, strong rebounding and probably one of the best outside shooting teams they've had in years. Then the wheels came off in SEC play right after the win at Auburn (which was a pretty good win). As the season has progressed, it's like they are afraid to shoot from outside. I don't know if this is Holly insisting that they play everything through their mediocre inside game, but it makes no sense.

This was a sad season all in all, made worse by the fact that they offered a glimmer of hope at the start of the season. If this isn't the final nail in the coffin of Holly's coaching career at Tennessee, I don't know what else it would take...

This loss should kick-start a coach search. I noticed the crowd of 7,300 was less than the season average which already was trending down from prior years. This can’t be reversed.

AD's should always have a short list of potential coaches just in case, even when things are going well. If Fulmer hasn't already contacted a few gauging interest behind the scenes then he's not doing his job. In light of Holly's below par coaching, I'd think he has been looking at possible replacements since the season got started.

Surly to God the search has been going on for awhile now. Even I, as little as I know about coaching and running a big time b-ball program (which is really nothing) have been able to see this coming for quit a few years.

Yeah shes not going to step down if it means losing out on big salary. I could be surprised, but I bet she rides this until the University decides to pay her to leave.

If she doesn't step down she doesn't care about Tennessee basketball, no way she can look herself in the mirror and think she should stay at Tennessee as head coach. Pat would never accept this type of play, I remember her saying one time they day this team doesn't respond to my coaching is the day I need to retire. Holly needs to heed Pat's words, if you love Tennessee you will step down. The players are NOT buying into you, our fundamentals have declined more and more during your tenure and that is the tell tale sign if you have a good coach or not. We are weak and soft, and it is continuing in that direction with every passing year. Tennessee fans are sick and tired of it, yes winning matters but what is worse is the lack of effort and intensity. For fans watching a lack of effort is the most worrisome thing. Your teams lack it all. Please step down Holly, not everybody is cut out to be a head coach, Pat said you were a great assistant and I believe her. But not all assistants make good head coaches, it's time to recognize what everybody else in the modern world sees. In closing, I ask if you care about the program step down before you take a once proud program that lived at the top of womens basketball to a laughingstock underachieving bottom feeder. GBO!

I'm curious. How many bad records are left for Holly to accomplish?

We still have “not earning an invitation tothe NCAA Tournament” out there since it it still possible, though not probable, that they will. I’m pretty sure they’d have to win the SEC Tournament for the automatic bid now. There’s also the “finished the season with an overall losing record” mark she could set next year. Goals, people! We’ve still got goals! :(

The LVs could still make the NCAAT. It's a soft bubble year. But Holly can't get them there. And a lot of the players seem to want the season to be over. If they can't beat the worst team in the SEC at home on SR Night, it's hard to see them doing anything but losing two more games to get it over with as quickly as possible.

Pride don't pay the mortgage

Unless Holly's living in some $10 million mansion, she's earned enough money from Tennessee over the past 30-plus years that she shouldn't even HAVE a mortgage to worry about paying. (Not that I thought you were being literal!) I am not the least bit concerned about Holly's financial being. Unless she attended the Allen Iverson School of Financial Planning, my guess is that she's pretty well set for life, money-wise.

My feeling is that Holly is, understandably, concerned about what her staff will do for jobs after all the dust settles. They'll all be fine, though, I'm sure. As coaches they know this is all part of the deal. Your career goes as your head coach's goes.

Please see that Holly reads this.

Simple answer to original post MONEY. If you were at a job realized you were in over head and doing a bad job would you quit if you knew there was a check waiting on you if you were fired. Mr. Fulmer will have to politely ask her to resign and offer buy out or forcibly remove her and pay her buy out. She won't step done and honestly I wouldn't either no matter how embarrassed I was if the contract I negotiated protected me and my family.

I've known a lot of people who could wear that t-shirt.
