We won by 21. Had over 630 yards of offense. 230 were rushing yards. The defense gave up a legitimate 16 points. Yes, it was tied at halftime but did you really think we wouldn't win the game?

So please enlighten me. How should the game have gone down?

The answer is from the whiners--whatever it takes to bash the team and coaches.

If you ask most they talk as if we should have beat them by 50. I for one was happy to see the team wake up in the second half and fight. You always worry about how a team will play a week after a deflating loss. I just hope they can pick it up this week and get mentally ready for UGA.

Maybe we shouldn't have been tied at 23-23 at half with a suck ass team that has lost their last 20 of 23 games But anyways, get back to me after Athens. Yesterday means nothing.

Destroyed them from start to finish. Akron should never tie us in any half. But yes, happy we won. And no, I'm not a Dooley hater.

I was hoping we would beat them by at least one PAT and given our efforts with PATs in the first three games I was sure I'd be a bedwetter before the game was over. Everytime DB took the field I fell to my knees with my arms lifted to the heavens and my voice calling out in loud holy rollin' prayer. I guess it worked, huh? :)

My first post here, been a long time lurker. I don't really understand the mentality that we had to blow this team out from the start. Of course we must win this game, and I don't believe we were ever in jeopardy of losing it. More importantly, to me anyway, was to come out and work on problem areas against a team we knew we could beat. Why all the hate about a win?

Shouldn't have been tied at the break.... I think we got extremely lucky that they wore out in the 2nd half...

We basically did they same thing to them that UF did to us last week...JMO

Every game can be looked at in alot of different ways. Most who are happy with just beating a team like Akron by any score are the ones saying "we expected to lose to UF". They choose not to break the game down because if you do, it's just ugly. We are a bad football team and last nights showing VS Akron is just another example of it. "We spotted them 2 TD's", "AJ was out of position", "They were holding", "They run a offense where you expect to give up alot of yards". I say BS. Our worst player on the roster should be better than their best player. Excuses are building up around here and they honestly do not make alot of sense.

I don't REALLY think people are hating about the win. Okay maybe some are but forget them for the moment. I think many here may have started their mattress burning on our first possession when TB threw a pick six. Our third possession ended in a disgusting FG. Then when RN fumbled on our 4th possession well that was just gasoline being thrown on the fire. Our 5th possession was back to a disgusting FG. Then on our 7th possession AJ blew the beast package (no mind in gutter here) on 4th and 1 and the zips took over on downs and the next play was a 70 yd TD run from the line of scrimmage. No matter what happened after that the mattresses were burning so hot it would have taken every fire brigade in the state to put out the blaze. Proof of point, even now many many hours later, the flames are still leaping higher.

It's not the score that is bothering me so much it's the way Akron sliced through our defense like a hot knife through butter. Fans that know anything about football knows this does not bode well for the next four weeks. Of course as a Vol fan I'm happy we won but the way the game played out doesn't give me confidence that we are improving overall as a team. Yes there are bright spots to be sure but I don't think people realize how absolutely horrible Akron really is.

The Randolph injury really hurts

We should have had at least 3 more offensive TD's. Two that Heisman Bray absolutely freaking missed with that million dollar arm and 5 cent head of his and one that ZR dropped. He shouldn't have thrown the int. He flat looked at the receiver from the snap of the ball. My fat ass could have intercepted that one. That would give us (if I count correctly) at least 22 more points. Had we done that I think that Akron scores 10 less so the difference should have been at least 53.

The answer is from the whiners--whatever it takes to bash the team and coaches.

You know, I can take a "whatever it takes to win" against NCSt and all the SEC except Candy and KY Jelly. Against Akron and GA St as well, we should have put a minimum of 70 on the board. If that's whining, then I like Muenster with Waterford crackers to go with it.
