No way?...Source please...This is getting funny...ACC...Average Coastal Conference...Marve, The BC coach and now this...Too much for one day...I think my head is going to explode!

You showed your class with that, didn't you. He said he came in peace, and the SEC isn't exactly winning out right now.

Did you try out, or were you on scholarship?

Neither... I worked in the front office and handled media relations. Traveled with the team and was on the sidelines for games. Formed some good long lasting relationships and still have quite a few friends inside.

Ended up leaving UT for a job in the NFL with the Titans and then Jaguars in the same capacity.

Like I said - a nobody.

I see. That's pretty cool though, to be able to work for some NFL teams.

Coach Cut was the only OC here to ever be allowed to call his own plays. I don't know why he was the only one, but thats how it was. Thank god thats changed.

Actually Kiffin is calling the plays...

I personally don't think he is that great of a QB coach. He did a great job at UT as a runnning backs coach. But all you have to do is look at the play of Erik Ainge during his time here. He improved greatly from his junior year till his senior year. The difference was Randy Sanders and David Cutcliffe. He is a loyal guy who is a good football coach but he isn't a Cordinator in this conference. Very predictable play calling and really didn't bring anything new to the offense that was noticable from a fans point of veiw. That could have had something to do with Fulmer vetos. No one knows but the coaches. But Miami could do better IMO.

Do you feel like Shannon will last at the "U"? I have a feeling that is were Tuberville is going to end up after next year myself.

I feel like as great as Shannon is at bringing in playmakers and elite talent, he is just as bad at managing an entire team. However, he does show a strong desire to upgrade every part of the team from recruiting to position coaching and coordinators. He is a guy that will do what it takes, the type of coach that you love in the offseason and love even more when you win but the type of losses you face due to inexperience are just mind numbing. I have a feeling that he may lose his job before he learns how to properly manage a team or a game.

If thats the case I think Tubs would be a great pick for a replacement, especially if we keep some of the coaches on staff right now that are intense recruiters.

Sanders is a great position coach. He coached Casey Clausen, and was the OC all the way through 2005.

If he gets hired, don't be afraid. I think his time away from total offensive control has been really good for him, and I'm sure he's more than ready to get back in the saddle.

Randy Sanders reminds me of a position coach/coordinator that gets hired for head coach then bombs a la Orgeron, Buddy Ryan, Mike Martz, etc. etc. Solid position coaches, coordinators, but beyond that, it's a jump with no chute (Spurrier and Pete Carroll to NFL then back to college are other examples).

Sanders is a very good QB coach, but he darn near cost us the NC. We won by a TD against Freshman Danny Outsen, whom had played sparingly in 1998. It was painfully obvious that we were at least 3 TD's better than State that year, but Randy kept them in the game with his play calling (Cut was OC that year and had already gone to Ole Miss).

Excellent QB coach...you can't take that away from him...too good of a track record...beyond that, it would be a complete nightmare.

I saw where somebody was looking at Kevin Gilbride to be a head coach somewhere in the NFL...HUGE mistake...he's a super OC, but no way would he be successful as a head coach.

You are out of your mind if you think Sanders was in control of the NC game! It was classic Phil Fulmer. PF was still in control of that offense until the day Sanders was hit by the Big Orange bus! As far as the discipline issues Sanders went on record as saying it was very hard to discipline players without the backing of the head football coach. If that wasn't bad enough he had Cut lurking in the shadows after Eli left him exposed in The Grove. The jury is still out on Sanders and I would love to see the guy get another shot.

Like everybody else is saying on this thread... I think Sanders is a decent position coach and the players seem to love him but I think he'd do for Shannon what Clawson did for Fulmer.... Caveat emptor my friend...

sanders wasn't too bad, i think he's done well at ky considering the lack of talent. i think there were alot of different problems in UT that caused him to resigned, i don't think it was just his lack of experiance. alot of stuff we'll never know.

if you think sanders caused the NC game, then Cutcliff almost caused us the SEC champtionship game.
