I mean for those of you who don't take a big, awesome boat to Neyland for home games... how bad does it bug you not to be part of one of the very coolest traditions in college football?

It's bugs the devil out of me.

I swear to God, if I just had one friend in the Vol Navy, I would be in high cotton! I'd be real cool on the boat too. I'd never talk about black jerseys or shout "Whoo!" while singing Rockey Top, and I'd wear non-marking sole shoes and only tie your dock lines with appropriate cleat hitches. No messy jumbles!

If you let me drive your boat home from the game, I'd always remember, regardless of how many beers I'd had, to take the left turn at Concord Yacht Club. I'd never go straight right there, running your Vol Naval Craft full speed into that pesky submerged island.

I would bring a good looking girl and agree not to hit on your wife.

I'd bring extra beer and share.

I'd be a helper, but not an annoying sycophant. I wouldn't say words like "port," and "starboard," and "ahoy" gratuitously. I'd stay off the hailing channel on your radio.

I wouldn't bring an iPod full of music that "you just have to hear."

I'd have age-appropriate conversations, and I wouldn't teach your children or aging parents about flip cup or beer pong or try to explain to them theories about why the keg is safer than the hunch punch at any given house in Fort Sanders.

Man, it bugs me that I've never boated to a game at Neyland.

What would YOU do for a ride on the Vol Navy?

We are thinking of getting a MK-V up there for one of the games.

I doubt you will be allowed to drive it.

Only if we can start from really far away so that the trip home is like some kind of Bataan Death March. :)

:eek:hmy:

I've never done the Vol Navy either but when I do its going to be on the baddest boat afloat!

we'll let you on, but you will have to stand a watch.

Thank you! I've stood watch while crossing the Gulf of Mexico. All I require is a cup of terrible coffee. :good!:

It might get hairy down in Muscle Shoals but if you're game, I am fosho! It won't be quite the Battaan Death March you desire but you betta bring yo "A" game son!!!!

PS...no coffee allowed on my vessel. All we got is Old No. 7 plus your dark-carbonated beverage of choice.

Why would you ruin good Whiskey by mixing it with coke?

I said it's available, didn't say I mixed it.
You could take the Hatchie out to the Mississippi. Head out to the Gulf of Mexico(aka Lake BP). Head up to the Tom Bigbee Waterway. Then you're there dude!

Sheik - nice post. Back in college, 2000 season, i rode to the game on a fraternity brother's dad's huge boat. It was great, and i had a great time. But i didn't appreciate it near as much as I would now. I live in charleston, where water is everywhere and boats are everything. The fact that you can take you boat that close to the stadium, leave it, go to the game, then come back to the boat afterwards right there is amazing.

Hope I get to be a part of Vol Navy again soon.

GO VOLS!

Call me a buzz kill, but sitting at a lawn chair in a docked boat on a river sipping on an Orange Fanta while listening to Bob Kessling is not my idea of spending one of the few Saturdays we get at Neyland each year.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see what the big deal is about riding a boat to a game...
