We don’t fire Pruitt.
We change his title to Co-Head Coach, Def.Coordinator & Secondary Coach, Recruiting Coord (these 4 titles justify salary).
We hire Hugh Freeze as Co-Head Coach & Offensive Coordinator & QB Coach (Freeze salary should match Pruitts).
Pruitt picks his def line coach and LB coach
Freeze picks his offensive coaches & special teams coach.

So, we save some money by firing Ansley & Chaney but not replacing those positions.
We don’t have to pay Pruitts big buyout this way and we let Freeze concentrate exclusively on the Offense.

I know the goal is to save money on the buyout, but it's just not realistic to think Pruitt would accept a demotion and work for/with the man hired to replace him. 2 head coaches? I can't imagine how that would work. I suspect it would be rocky to say the least.

We need to cut bait on Pruitt. He's shown himself to be incapable and a failure. We need someone who has been on a stage like UT. We need someone who knows the SEC. We need someone who has taken on and beaten Satan. We need someone with ties to Memphis. We need Hugh Freeze. As for the buyouts, we're done with Butchie Boy soon. We can handle Pruitt along with his mistake named Brumbaugh. Just get it done and let's get this program back to respectability. Rattling Satan's cage by hiring Freeze is icing on the cake.

no one would ever want to be a Co-Head Coach unless you were like up and coming or something.

There's no such thing as a dumb idea - just certain VN posters with thread ideas...

we are in a literal no win situation both financially and competitively.
I’m not convinced that this idea wouldn’t work.
many teams have head coaches that basically just handle either offense or defense.
they just don’t give it a name like co-head coaches.
what we keep trying sure isn’t working.
I knew I’d get bashed and knew it was a very unusual idea.
but, i said that off the bat.
Would Freeze come to UT for $4million and completely run the offense for a year or two and Pruitt could then gracefully leave after finding something else and us not have to pay his buyout?
probably not, especially if he gets offered the SCarolina job but I think it’s worth asking Freeze Confidentially.
many have said that UT is a place that Freeze and his family really likes.

Knowing our luck Freeze will end up in Columbia SC.

He is gonna have plenty of suitors this off season.

Tennessee is still a better job than USC and Knoxville is better to live in than Columbia.

We lose out. Pruitt is still HC and JG starts next year. That will be a long summer!

I bet SC pays the huge buyout they have on Muschamp (even bigger than Pruitts btw) balls up and hires Freeze.
