First - ( unlike Butch) I want to "own " how wrong I have been to make excuses for the cluster **** this season has devolved into . Injuries are not enough to explain how Ky, Vandy and Mo have totaled almost 2,000 yards in the last 3 weeks. There is no excuse - Gen Neyland must be spinning in his grave. Second - this team belongs in the drama dept at UT for all the dysfunction aired weekly. Third - Butch is absolutely the worst game coach ever to head UT. If He makes a decision- it will be wrong 90% of the time. Fourth- I was one of those who said -well , as long as we beat the Gators, etc. I said that because I couldn't conceive losing to Vandy and USC even in my worst nightmare. I will remember this year as one of the most frustrating and disappointing in 50 years because it was all set up. The schedule, the returning letter men , 4 years in the system, blah-blah and they still managed to blow it. each time we lucked into a second and third chance to salvage the season, we found a way to ruin it. The whole thing sucks and I hope to never repeat this BS.

Okay, I get what you're saying, but you're being hypocritical with the drama class comment. You're being very dramatic, and making a topic that has been made and stated like 30 times already. I and everyone understands the black eye this is, and his approval rating has now plummeted.

The question is what can our program do to avoid this from happening again. What steps can be made by the school to assure long term success and consistent high revenue in jersey sales and what will keep people coming back to the stadium keeping it at max. It starts from the ground up hiring the right AD, keeping Jones until the right door opens, and making sure we don't just jump out of a sinking ship just to get right into another one with internal structural damage. We need to bring the right people in and spend cash where it needs to be spent. Or we will have a Cuanzo 2.0 situation that destroys the program from within.

Great thread title got to admit that. Losing to USCjr and Vandy (but mostly Vandy) indeed makes 8-4 feel like 4-8

I agree with most of this. You say it was all setup and then refer to the schedule. How was the schedule favorable to us. Many agree this was probably one of the toughest, if not the toughest schedule in the country.

what you are saying is we repeat what happened when Dooley proved he was a phony and let's drag this out as long as possible so we can self-inflict the maximum amount of pain on ourselves....got ya

As someone already said could be 6-6.. Damn lucky not to be.. Expectations were there, it was a huge letdown and it feels like we're backing up again.. He gets another try, if it starts to go south early i wouldn't be surprised if it was curtains before the season is over. New AD needs to have a list coming in the door of who to start calling to gauge interest..

If we were gonna drag it out as long as possible we could keep him til 2020. No I didn't say that, please don't put words in my mouth, I said these are cautious times and not having an AD right now makes this situation very scary. We need to find a new AD now so we can figure out what direction we are going in, wasn't aware I wanted this to be a Dooley 2.0 situation. Thanks for informing me on what I said, lololol.

There's only one direction I want to go in, and CBJ is not taking us there.

Too drained emotionally to wallow in the negativity, where all we had to do to be in Sugar was to beat Vandy...of course everyone else did their part to lose, but too disappointed to really care right now.

Jones not going anywhere until next year at earliest. So, he's got one more shot at redemption. He'd better hope Shoop figures it out, and one of the three QB's is all sec caliber. If both these things happen, he's got opportunity to stretch his stay. If not, he'll be gone w/ new AD taking over.

That's our MO... Also tells you just how bad Dooley really was that we didn't give him more time to show us he sucked.

Because that's a load.

Removing Alabama from the equation, everyone in the league has at least 4 losses and was damn lucky somewhere along the way to not have more.

The only time someone calls a bunch of these teams good is when they want to argue about the strength of their schedule.

But, you wouldn't call Florida good. Georgia good. Missouri good. etc.

Alabama is beyond good. Va Tech may be the next best team on the schedule.

Here's a statistic of shame. Florida was the only team in the division to have more "points for" than "points against" in conference play.

So, the 2005 season was better?

Florida also lost every game that their opponent scored more than 14 points.....

Coming from the fan of a team that played 3 games in 5 weeks. Only one of which was a true road game.
