Buckhead is the rich part of Atlanta. Yes it is very close to MARTA. I recommend the Omni Hotel if you can afford it. Its like two blocks from the Dome. and look in Roswell or Alpharetta. good area and about 15 minutes from downtown.

yeah i was just trying to give him something in the neighborhood of his hotel.I must disagree, check out Welcome to Nuevo Laredo Cantina! | Atlanta, Georgia, USA
Also, Decatur has some awesome restaurants, but it is a hike.
Buford highway has some really nice ethnic eateries.

the people we're going with got us rooms at the Georgian Terrace. Don't know much about it but they said it was nice.
I know they've recently bought it from another chain and have done an exterior facelift, dunno about the inside. The one baymont i've stayed in was in North Carolina and was nice enough. It is immediately off the interstate. you can walk to the dome, but the hill going up International Blvd is a little steep. not too bad though and it's only for about 3 blocks. then it's back downhill toward centennial park and the dome.I'm a cheap college student and got reservations at the Baymont downtown. The reviews aren't bad and it says its only a mile away from the dome. Does anyone know about it?

Perimeter is a very nice area. Good mid price range hotels that will shuttle you to the Marta station for free. Perimeter Mall is great and has good places to eat. Cheesecake Factory and several others of that nature as well as Fuddruckers for the families.
I checked the Holiday Inn Express/Perimeter, they have rooms for $53 per night and take you to the Marta station that is less than a mile away, for free. There is a Courtyard and two or three other nice chain hotels right there.
Buckhead is a step up in price range and only two Marta stops closer to the Dome.
