Hotels in Atlanta

I used trip adviser to check out my hotel for the Chick Fil A kick off game. We stayed at the Marriott Marques. What you'll find is that after the game when there are lots of people, you won't really have to worry about "riff raff", just maybe some pick-pocketers.

Just stay with the crowed and I think you'll be fine.

I just skipped to the end of the thread so bear with me if anyone has suggested this. I've stayed at the Westin(the one with 72 floors with the Sun Dial Restaurant) and that's about a mile walk from the dome. Not a bad walk at all IMO. I also stayed at the Embassy Suites at Centennial Park. The Embassy Suites is just right around the corner from the dome. I would recommend either hotel for a short stay within walking distance to the dome. The Embassy Suites is definitely closer though. Hope this helps!

P.S.-There is also a W hotel right down the road from the Westin. It figures to be a "nicer" hotel, and certainly more modern, but a longer walk and definitely more pricey.

I am trying to book a hotel and do not know where is the best place to stay. Is buckhead easily accessable by the marta late at night? Or is the airport hotels a better place to stay?

Any help would be much appreciated.

OK...it's looking like Buckhead for us. Intercontinental, Wingate, Westin, W, or Ritz? I was also able to get reservations at Fogo de Chao on the 1st.

I'm staying downtown at the Hyatt Regency. Prices are a little higher, but being within walking distance is nice. I've read conflicting opinions on the marta after the game. I know the one time I tried was awful. Someone had the good idea of waiting about 45 mins to an hour after the game before boarding, and I am sure that works, but I could walk back in less than half that time.

I have asked the same question. Im staying in Buckhead. I have talked with at least two people who confirmed to stay here. Marta is 3-5 blocks and goes right over. Buckhead is upper scale from what I hear. Go Vols!

They are all right there. The Ritz is a slightly longer walk to MARTA, I guess, but any of them will work. I don't have any personal experience staying in any of them, but they're all supposed to be extremely nice hotels.

For anybody staying in Buckhead who wants a nearby bar, the best of the lot IMO is Fado Irish Pub. It's about the only thing left in between the pretentious martini-bar set and the mid-20s' meat markets. I've been a regular there for 13 years. In a pinch, it's fairly easily walkable from all the Buckhead hotels.

Buckhead is the rich part of Atlanta. Yes it is very close to MARTA. I recommend the Omni Hotel if you can afford it. Its like two blocks from the Dome. and look in Roswell or Alpharetta. good area and about 15 minutes from downtown.

yes MARTA is running late at night. I did it before I met a Bum who apparently had 13 kids and a bachelors degree you never know who youre gonna run into on MARTA

No way. From your average hotel in Roswell, it would be minimum 25 minutes to getting off the highway downtown, and that would be with no traffic. Add 10 minutes on top of that from Alpharetta. Way too far out IMO. You might as well stay out in Cartersville and get a good head start back up to Tennessee.

I live too far out of Downtown to know exactly where it is. Im thinking of Dunwoody and Sandy Springs I think.
