Hotel recommendations for JAX

Those reviews aren’t wrong.

I would strongly suggest you guys avoid any hotels off Phillips Highway, Emerson Street or University Blvd.

Stick to the airport exit, Baymeadows, Butler Blvd or the beaches...or downtown.

If you stay near Baymeadows be sure to get some BBQ from 4Rivers Smokehouse. You won’t be disappointed.
That is legit.

Also check out Hawkers near downtown. Interesting Asian food.

Although a Vol for many years I've lived in Jax for over 20 years and I'm happy to make myself available to help any of you in planning where to stay for the time you're here for Gator Bowl. Go Vols!!

I’ve got a hotel near the airport and tickets in section 216. Just have to decide if we’re going to drive or fly down there.

I am Airbnb a house due to 6ppl and the two dogs. It is between San Jose and San Jose Forest. How is the neighborhood? And food and or travel recommendations? Maybe a restaurant with a patio that allows dogs?
Thanks in advance!

Closest places to you would probably be San Marco. There are several places there with a patio. There is a Loop there with great food, but they don't have a patio. The St. John's town Center is south of where you will be, but the food options there are innumerable. Enjoy your time here.

Hampton Inn on the beach at Velano Beach (St. Augustine) for us. 35 min. to the stadium and priced less than Jax downtown hotels.

I had trouble finding a place near the stadium. I booked the Sheraton. Anyone know anything about it?

We're at the Courtyard in Orange Park. It looks like there is a Miller's Ale House Open until 2 for after the game dranks!
Miller's has the best burger I've ever had from a chain. Their salads are decent too. And wings.

Are you referring to pretty much all nightlife being better around the beach? Or just better for a younger crowd?

Nightlife is much better around the beach versus downtown and near the stadium...you don’t want to be in neighborhoods around the stadium at night. If theres not a game going on, there’s not much to see or do around the stadium.

There’s nightlife and activities for all ages in Atlantic/Jax Beach. Bars and restaurants stay open late for the younger folks. Further north, Amelia Island and Jekyll Island in South Georgia caters to an older crowd.

If I was making the trip a 4-5 day extended stay around the bowl game, and money wasn’t an issue, I’d stay at the One Ocean Resort on Atlantic Beach. Been there several times for birthday dinners and banquets. It’s walking distance to all the restaurants and shops on Atlantic Blvd.
