Horrible Holly

You Can?t Coach Effort.

“In 35 years coaching, this probably has been the least energy of any team I’ve coached,” Summitt said. “I’m not good at coaching effort. It was a total lack of passion. I don’t know that you can teach that to a player.”

Boom! 💥

However, I don't disagree with what Jim said about taking away the locker room, making them do their own laundry and making them practice straight off the airplane after a poor performance. Might be a needed reality check/attitude adjustment...for all I know.

I understand practice yesterday was intense.

On another note...This thread sucks. I understand people have an opinion, but I don't understand how the things being publicly said on this site about Holly AND the players benefit the program. I guess it just goes with the territory, but I hate to think what new commits and potential ones think when reading it. It makes me cringe.

But come on...starting a thread called "Horrible Holly?" YOU'RE horrible!

And that's MY opinion!

Those numbers are skewed because the first 3 seasons were Pat recruited players! With players that Holly recruited and didn't play under Pat she is 25-15 with 1 Elite 8 appearance

Who had to coach them and got them ready to play, in spite of, especially the mental thangs that they were going through, the players.? No you sound stupid. lol

Holly u did a fantastic job.

And taking over a program is still taking over program, I don't care when you take it over, every coach has to start some where...

And what were the lady vols, under Pat the last four years.

2008–09 Tennessee 22–11 9–5 5th NCAA First Round
2009–10 Tennessee 32–3 15–1 1st NCAA Sweet Sixteen
2010–11 Tennessee 34–3 16–0 1st NCAA Elite Eight
2011–12 Tennessee 27–9 12–4 2nd NCAA Elite Eight

wuteva?

Thanks, P4L.

Cue the "We're not bashing Holly as a person, we're bashing her coaching" comments.

If they knew the person they would not make the comments being made publicly and certainly not in the manner they're being made. Holly is a human being...and a good one at that.

We know good and well for some she will never do anything right. If they play very well against Virginia Tech, some won't give her any credit.

People are entitled to their opinion and I'm entitled to mine...

GO LADY VOLS AND GO HOLLY WARLICK!!!!!!

Going back again to the Cinderella Season tape, the one thing that stuck out was the loss to Old Dominion and someone, probably Abby Conklin, kicking the trash can. Pat came into the locker room and basically said, ok your pissed and that is good. You lost, but the effort was there. The beauty is this is early in the season and we can fix the fundamentals.

Don't give us this "Holly is a great Lady Vol" nonsense. This is about coaching, and winning, period. She is not a good coach and she will never be a good coach.

But Holly is a great Lady Vol, this is about coaching, she does win, she can coach, yes she will :)

In the presser today..."I think you'll see a different team (against Va. Tech), I don't know, we'll see." Yep, we'll see...

Most Vol fans I know are passionate and loyal, even to a fault for some. At this website not so much.

Good luck to Holly and all her forces this year.

This thread is pathetic! Started by a troll and ate up by almost all of the HHs (Holly Haters) we have on this board! Constant hate for the Lady Vol program....I bet you all were elated when we lost our first game, which is quite sad for so called "fans"

Next year will be a complete different story and I'll SO be looking for you alls post!

You know what most of us are tired of hearing? "Next year will be different." It has been said every year since Holly took over. And, guess what? It isn't any different now, and won't be any different until we get a new coach.

Because I am a great Lady Vol fan, I want the team to have a great coach. I wish Holly was a great coach. She isn't. She's in over her head. Pat didn't know Holly wouldn't develop. She'd want a great coach for the TN Lady Vols too. She'd still love Holly. She'd just want the players to have a great coach. Holly has been paid several million dollars over the last few years. She'll be fine. Maybe she'll retire if we make the final four and a dynamic personality will be hired. Someone like Dawn. She's so driven. Reminds me of Pat.

"SHE CAN'T COACH"

Most people know I'm not a Holly fan, but if your recruiting sucks and you make the decision to fire your recruiting coordinator, hire another RC and then sign the #1 class, you get another couple years no matter how bad this year is, and it's likely to be very bad.

The next AD will then be able to see if Holly follows up with another strong class and if she moves to fix her coaching. If not, TN would have a good roster (assuming no transfers) and would likely be an attractive move for a good coach.

Best post of the day

I've seen enough over the last 3-4 years to know that Holly is very challenged when it comes to teaching basketball fundamentals...maybe I should say, Holly and staff. There is enough misery in watching some of these games to safely include the entire staff. She was lamenting lack of rebounding against Penn State in this last presser and it leaves one wondering what are they really addressing in practice. One of the early wins, JMU I think, she said "for the most part, I thought we took care of the ball"...and I'm thinking there were 18 turnovers made by the LV'S in that game...not my idea of taking care of the ball. Standards are very different from the days of Pat. Pat would get in their grill and demand better execution, and usually got it! These current players don't seem to fear the "wrath" of their coach. This coach doesn't seem to have the ability to get in their face and tell them, "You're better than that, and you better start proving it!"

I agree somewhat with this post. Holly could be a good coach if she is willing to face the reality that she needs to learn how to motivate players or hire an assistant who knows how to motivate players.

If it comes to the point that she has to hire an assistant to motivate players, hire an assistant to recruit players, recruit players who don't need to be developed into All-Americans...it makes me wonder what the hell is she being paid for?

She can't coach offense.
She can't coach defense.
She can't get her players to improve their fundamental skills
She can't inspire her players to perform at their best
She can't oversee her recruiting coordinator

Remind me what she does again?

Prior to that JMU game CHW stated in an interview that she was worried headed into that game. And I thought to myself what is she worried about?

"for the most part, I thought we took care of the ball"
She got the most part right. I went back and checked the LVS had 12 turnovers not 18. But still 12 v 18 t.o.'s are still too many.

Who we got next, Baylor? :eek:hmy:

Thanks. And I'm hoping that we win all of them.

As a fan I'm still cheering them on and that means Holly too because she's not going anywhere anytime soon. So I wish her and the team best of luck.
