In fairness, more than one poster on this board has reacted in much the same way when a desired football recruit signs elsewhere.

It's not like that is an unusual reaction from a fanbase.

Well that is probably true but I think the Kentucky fanbase takes it a little too far and personal than we would, I know theres people in every fanbase who are that way but Kentucky takes it to another level.

I have read it a thousand times on this very board.

While I understand that the Wildcat Nation is in mourning, the previous post does illustrate the ego centricity of the "UK fan."

BK was a tremendous man by all acounts. I am positive that UK will honor his service to their Univeristy accordingly, but his memorial has absolutely nothing to do with Bruce Pearl or Scotty Hopson.

if Tyler stays, will we have a chance of starting next year in the top 5? do you guys think that signing Hopson will open the door to McDonalds for UT, recruiting wise?

I hope so.

We will not start in the top 5 because of the question marks.

As in PG, real post play, a true shooter, and suspect defense.

Tyler going to the NBA this year or next, and Scotty going to the NBA within 2 years will help recruiting the burger boys immensely. Proof that a coach can put you in the association helps immensely.

I think Hopson wants to be one and done. But that is all it is at this point, hope. I think there is a very high probability that he will return for his sophomore season. He is a tremendous talent but not somebody the NBA will be fighting over after one year in college. His game still needs quite a bit of refining.

Bruce Pearl definitely has to stop using the "The McDonald's AAs are down there" motivational tool when coaching against UK.

For example, after the UK game in Knoxville this year, he remarked that UK can get whoever they want and did not recruit the UT players. IMO, that was a great motivational tool for a couple of years, but I'm pretty sure UK would have taken Tyler Smith. The audio of his postgame comments can still be heard on utsports.com.

Basically, he can't keep using that now that he's beaten UK for a McDs AA.

He's a great player but c'mon he wasn't even a top 30 player this year.

Nobody outside of TN even know his name.

I wouldn't go quite that far. A lot of people up here in Ohio know about him and think he is a hell of a player.

Maybe because we played them. The people with first hand experience knows he's good but he doesn't even get on any all-american team and Lofton did. That shows how much the nation knows of him.

Who's gonna be ranked higher? Assuming sensible defections from the few teams better than we were, we are going to be very highly ranked should Tyler stay around.
