Imo both are of utmost importance to their side of the ball.


However, IMO, everyone on the defense looks like all sec players when you have two guys who can fill 4 inside gaps and/push the pocket into the qbs face. They may not get all the tackles and glory but will be a big reason a defense ends up with amazing stats at the end of a season.
