Hoping Kentucky wins to get rid of Butch is sick

I'm not happy with Jones, I wasn't much of a Negavol until earlier this season. The GA game pretty much pushed me over the fence.

A lot of folks are forgetting that we have some great players - many who, in spite of what is going on, have been playing their butts off. Never forget that these guys will be hanging around the Lauracella center before games in the future, with other VFL's. Forget about Butch for a second and think of the players. Think of the future players that still want to come here. (Yes, I know - you'll reply and say "they won't come here with Jones"-I get that). Would they want to play where they get booed and the fan base roots for them to lose?

Water seeks it's level. It doesn't look like Jones will survive as coach. I think it's ok to turn on Butch - he gets a lot of money to produce. Just don't turn on the players.

I'll embrace the new coach just as I did Kiffen, Dooley and Jones. As bad as this season has been - I can never pull for the VOLS to lose. Ever. I've seen many good and bad days in Neyland Stadium (first game 1965). I've had a lifetime of watching orange jerseys on that field and a lot of pride goes into all of that. GBO

If the admin would do the right thing, they would fire Butch now and relieve us fans from the dilemma of cheering against our team. Oh well...so much for caring for the fans.:mf_surrender:

Butch is gone. No need to root against Tennessee.

I keep seeing it repeated that Jones is for sure gone yet no proof has been given; same as all the Gruden BS.

The longer Jones gets to coach, the less I believe the claim that Jones is for sure gone. It makes no sense to let him keep coaching.

I still hold to the theory that Currie told Jones he was done at the end of the year. Now some might say well why is Jones still coaching then. Well he has $8 million reasons why.

If he quits, he won't get it, he also can't really purposely tank the season to make the UT job look less attractive cause then that would make him look bad to any future employer.

It's really a Mexican stand off in a way, Jones wants that money, Currie would probably like to not give it to him. So we're where we are now.

Plus he probably get incentives for wins

UK fans will actually feel like they’ve done something worthwhile and proceed to smack talk the program that they will be 2-30 against since 1985. We can’t have that. Must make it 6 in a row!

Thinking Butch's career at Tennessee hinges in any way on beating Kentucky in year 5 is indicative of much bigger problems.

The outcome of this game is inconsequential.

That being said....go Vols!

If Currie is that afraid to fire Jones, we are screwed for another ten years. We're an underdog at Kentucky. We may not win an SEC game this year. If a new AD is that afraid to fire a coach doing this poorly in year 5, we are done.

Even Paul Finebaum made a good point. If beating UK, or Mizzou, or Vandy saves Jones's job, we deserve him.

To not assume that Kentucky will win this weekend means you have not been watching anything for this season. We are bad, and getting worse week after week.

We are going to finish last in the SEC East, let that sink in.....we will finish last. Appreciate Jones' in all respects except for what he is paid to do, which is win games.

Kentucky is bad as well, which is the only reason I think we could win this game. It is a toss up, in my opinion, which says so much more than words ever could.

THIS

I can't stand Finebaum, but he has a way of putting it down to the lowest common denominator.

For those who think Butch will survive, the above statement is your answer.

Bama and Georgia vs. UT: 86-7.

YES - the outcome of the Kentucky game shouldn't weigh in at all for CBJ. GBO.

I'm with you you. Pulling for a Ky win is like hoping to get cancer. You know they'll be ready to pick apart this roadkill of a team CBJ has coached up. Currie has the chance to prove he has the stones to do what is necessary! Next Sunday is when it starts........

Agreed. I don't think it is a "done deal" like everybody is claiming. I don't think he'll make it, and even if he wins out I think he will leave on "his own", but not for an instant do I believe he knows he gone right now.

If we have an AD who, at this point, is allowing week-to-week outcomes to dictate his decision, then it doesn't matter if CBJ is let go or not. We're doomed.

There's plenty of evidence on the table to understand what you have in Butch. If Currie is is capable and competent, which I believe he is, he's made his decision and is moving forward with the next steps. Fans want blood, but I am no position to understand the ins and outs of what is really going on. Some say CBJ wants out as badly as many want him out. Currie may be playing that to his advantage. I am content to give him the benefit of the doubt until he proves he doesn't deserve it.

I will be patient and expect the AD to make a decision that is in the best interest of the football program. If that means Jones is on the sideline until the end of the year, so be it. Ultimately, the only thing that matters is who is the team's coach come string practice.

I want Butch gone just as much as anyone but living in Kentucky, I don’t think I could handle local UK fans talking smack if they beat us.

Better prepare for it Josh cause it's more than likely happening come Saturday.

Everyone hates him. He’s gone. I’m not sure what th if exact reason is for the delay. It could be Currie wanting to figure out a deal with a new coach, something related to the interim situation, or anything else we just aren’t aware of. But there’s no realistic scenario where Tennessee keeps Butch.

For me, it's not hoping that we lose to KY. Its a matter of delaying the inevitable cause we are a bottom feeder in the SEC right now.
